Hello Les, good to see you are managing to move on. and wow! your fairy garden and the estate beyond sound wonderful, children would love to see it (and adults too I'm sure). :pve;y idea to open it for charity occasionally. Make it 'by appointment so you don't have people knocking at all times, or have special open days. Good luck with it. :-)

Wow, Les, you have been busy. I must get to visit cousin Joy and bring her to see you and your Fairy Garden and your lovely buildings.

I hope the postcard arrived. We got back from Tideswell earlier this evening after a very nice 11 day holiday celebrating Wakes week and enjoying Marmalade cottage (google it). The wonderful weather made everything twice as nice and seeing people we met on previous holidays there was great. Changes at some pubs meant there were wider choices of eateries and we dined out a couple of hours ago in Norwich to end the holiday.

I will give you a ring as soon as I have caught up with myself.

So glad you are keeping busy, Audrey will be proud of the way you are coping

Love, Lizxxx

Good evening all...Sorry I haven't been in touch sooner...Still have bad moments as expected but generally I am now well and keeping very busy...
When Audrey was at junior school she had to learn the poem "There are Fairies at the bottom of my garden"...During her last year with me she decided she'd like a Fairy Garden..Right at the bottom of our garden is the water garden with 2 ponds cascade and waterfall set in a biggish rockery this then feeds into the large main pond..I used the rockery and it's water effects for the Fairy Garden..It has 3 castles and a secret cave,,2 mushroom houses,,3 log houses,1 gypsy caravan a a windmill which sits over the top pond acting as a watermill..Across the ponds, cascade and waterfall is a string of coloured dragonflies and around the back and along 2 sides of the rockery I have suspended string lights shaped like little white stars...All this is solar powered..All the buildings are connected with narrow gravel roads, named after some of our grandchildren..Behind the large pond I have cleared the widest border of nearly all the plants and shrubs and have built (out of marine ply) a small estate with 2 pairs semi detached and a terrace of 4 houses with a 5 storey tower block at one end...Behind the estate is a City Farm with a couple of open stables..On the farm are chickens,,2 piglets,,1 cow,,geese,,1 lamb,,rabbits,,guinea pigs and a goat...Again the houses are solar lit and there are stars in the "sky"...Next to this I am building a hotel and cafe with car park then beside that will be the Country Park with visitor centre and tea rooms,,duck pond with ducks and swans and a battery powered railway running round the park...I'm thinking of opening it to the public with donations to my favourite charity...What with all my Genealogy research I am quite busy....Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts..It is so warming to see them and LIZ,,a big big thank you for being there for me...You are a very special person...Love....LES.

Aww, it can't be easy for Les facing each day without lovely wife Audrey beside him.

Gentle ((((hugs)))) to Les. Remember Audrey is only ever a thought away. Take
things slowly and remember to pamper yourself too when you have been
so unwell lately. Thinking of Les and his close family just now.

Thanks for the update Liz. Much appreciated my many of Les' GR friends I'm sure. xx

That's good that he is coping . Not easy at first but you do it because you know your OH would do want you to

Having family and friends around to support is also the helping hands that you need

Hopefully now the weather will be getting better so getting out will be easier

Keep on keeping on Les

On Tuesday I gave Les a call. He was very chirpy altho he says he has down times, which is to be expected. His health is better now, altho he had bronchitis? in the new year. Also he had skin cancer on his nose but his doctor was able to deal with that and the scar is now healing.

Les and the family have been busily making Audrey's grave 'the best in the churchyard'. They planted many snowdrops and aconites which looked wonderful and are now prettying it up even more. When Les was there, he says other villagers who knew her came to say hello to her (and to Les.)

Les is also busying himself doing the front garden and working on the rear garden too, as well as keeping the house to Audrey's high standards, as he is worried she will send a bolt of lightning his way if he slackens lol

He also told me how comforting and cheering he found all the messages here at a very dark time for him and sends his thanks.

We had a laugh and I bet Audrey is proud of the way Les is coping, with the help of their lovely family. Keep you on a'troshing, Les xx

I had an email from Les, his boiler has been fixed so he is warm, but he's been very poorly. Not surprising really after the last weeks and he is a little better today. The vicar is yet to go round to arrange things, meanwhile I hope he will rest and regain his strength.

Much love to you Les, if you read this, you are in my thoughts, as is Audrey, mixing with the rich and famous, bless her
