So it seems they at one point thought about installing a nuclear device in the channel tunnel just in case.....

Just in case we left Europe??

It was always said that Thatcher insisted on destructive explosives just in case. she denied it. I guess a nuke was a variant of this myth.

Another urban myth was of a lethal electric fence nr the Dover end. A couple of years ago an illegal managed to walk the whole distance so that myth went pop.

if you like this Edge of Darkness sort of thing have a root into Thatcher's Zircon project.

Didn't say I believed it but you wonder how much fact there is even when it seems to all be fiction...... :-)

Seem to remember when in BAOR 1960s that all new bridges, tunnels etc had to have "points" where explosives could be placed to demolish the item if needed during a war.

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Apr 2017 11:31

Is it any good ?

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Apr 2017 13:41

I think it was planned in case an army invaded through the tunnel but surely whilst you're amassing troops at the tunnel they'd just be flying in behind you !!

It may be another urban myth but some say

mad cow disease originated at 10 Downing Street

Caroline

Caroline Report 5 Apr 2017 11:16

How can you tell if anyone in power does or doesn't have it.

David
