Caroline ............

you asked who is being stupid with drains, at 12:51, and got no answer ................

it's Sharron, of course, being careless enough as to need a surveyor coming to look at them

Mind you, I thought surveyors dealt with where drains were going, not with clogged drains

but what do I know?

Caroline

Caroline Report 6 Apr 2017 21:16

Thanks...I'd think it was more stupid; can you be more stupid or is stupid just enough; to not fix the drains if there's any problems. :-D :-D :-D

This is the UK!
Phone about a problem, and the workforce will come out, one at a time.

I phoned the Council once (I live in a Council house), to say I needed a new tap - I'd actually bought the taps I wanted, but didn't tell them that.

I explained that it wasn't the washer - I'd changed that.
I'd also re-seated the tap ('Pardon?' was the response on the other end)
'Tell the Plumber, I've re-seated the tap - they will understand.
The tap is dead, no more, cannot be fixed - okay?'

Plumber came around 'I believe your tap washer needs replacing!!'

Fortunately a plumber can both fix and connect taps, otherwise it would have been a lot of wasted time sitting at home, missing work waiting for the 'right' workman to turn up!
I explained the situation - he looked at the tap - agreed with me - and fitted my new taps :-D :-D

A jack of all trades Maggie....much better than not being able to do anything for yourself.

I have changed taps - and fitted at least 2 tap/shower gizmo's (no, not the rubber hoses!).
I actually tried to replace the taps but knew the other tap had been over tightened, and I didn't have the tools or brute strength to undo it - hence I (handily)had some new ones :-D

General rule with plumbing - and most other things - finger tight, then half a turn with a spanner :-D :-D

First rule is turn the water off :-D
