The laws of physics mean that you can't get out more than you put in, so electric trains and other modes of transport have to get their electricity from somewhere. There is a finite supply of lithium for making batteries, and these batteries have to be recharged, so there is always a trade off. Until we generate electricity in a carbon free manner, power is always going to be the main source of emissions. |
