Mr Treehugger seems unaware that ground preparation and harvesting are well and truly on the march to automation. UK Fenland farmers working with the local universities driven by fear of brexit.

The laws of physics mean that you can't get out more than you put in, so electric trains and other modes of transport have to get their electricity from somewhere. There is a finite supply of lithium for making batteries, and these batteries have to be recharged, so there is always a trade off. Until we generate electricity in a carbon free manner, power is always going to be the main source of emissions.

On a wider scale, I see the changing demographics creating a huge problem both socially and politically. The trend towards right wing nationalism in Europe and the USA is going to cause massive problems if it goes unchecked, with people from the tropical areas migrating north just in order to survive. I can actually see major warfare breaking out and that, on top of the climate issues, could just topple us into an abyss that we can't get out of.

It's universally accepted that we are at the early stages of another extinction event, called the Anthropocene extinction by scientists. We could brake it, but it's not likely to happen. There is slim chance of any form of global agreement over anything never mind climate change measures.

True can you ever see any situation where every single country in the World actually "sat around a table" let alone agree on anything?

It's never going to happen, is it. Depressing in many ways to think that we are all the same yet so different.
