John seems to be a lot older than Agnes, unless he is a son and is a closed record |

Thank you all-- your efforts are very much appreciated. Where to start ? I have already checked out those two marriage entries--for Lewis and Turley, without success. From what i was told by remaining family member's, who were told by their now deceased elder's--that Annie was a shy 'home' girl, who had no particular lasting male relationships. She moved around various sibling homes before the war, and was remembered for always knitting sewing and other quiet activities. I get the strong impression that she stayed single--at least up to the end of the war. I think the most likely thing is that--having been witness to her mother's second marriage--to James Goodwin in August 1942, The address at that time was ,12 Thomas Lane, West Derby L'pool. she may have been living with them at that time, or after the wedding, till her mother died, in May 1950. The address then was--44, Rufford Rd. liverpool. After his death--what then ? |

Ancestry have the UK phone book online up to 1987. At that time few people were ex directory so it can be quite handy for pre ww2 searches so long as the people had a phone of course. |

You would probably be better off using your earlier thread on this family (or at least linking to it) or posting on the Find Ancestors board (with a link) - the 1911 census with Annie is on that thread which was looking into her Mother. |

Thank you all for responding, I will have to come back here later today, with more info that will help. Meanwhile---My aunt, who was my mother's younger sister, was, according to Baptising documents, born in Liverpool on November 15th 1907--named ANNA, birth registered January 1908, named HANNAH. can you see trouble brewing? My mom always called her ANN--or was it ANNE. The family knew her as -'our ANNIE'. there are other spellings----On the 1911 census ( her last known official listing) she was aged 3, and listed as ANNIE. I have checked every version of her name, not just within Liverpool or even Lancashire, but countrywide, for her death. Trouble is, if she got married---who to? I have checked every Annie casey marriage ( and the other variations), from 1920 to 1990. I recently bought my forth Death certificate --which turned out not to be her maiden name. just one last fragment of her existence---Her widowed mother Margaret, remarried in August 1942, to James Goodwin, in Liverpool. One witness was 'A.Casey.' The only family member with that initial --was Annie. So I think we can say she was alive then and single. I discovered that 'Annie' lived with various family member's throughout the 1930's. I will come back later with what addresses i can find. Many thanks for you time. Arfermo. |

Women with property were able to vote in local elections well before the end of the 19th century and so appeared on electoral rolls. Before 1918 many men were not entitled to vote. |
