Hello to everyone who added to this thread, & to Linda for adding the thread to the General Chat board.

I am coping ! just, but it has been hard losing Jack, after 56 years of marriage & 60 years from when we first met, I am struggling with what's happened.
I would like to say big THANKYOU to everyone who has sent me the many kind words & thoughts on this thread, I cannot express fully how they have helped.

THANKYOU <3

Joan.

good to hear from you Joan, as you know I can empathise with you over such a loss after so many years. Yes it is hard and you will grieve at your own rate. I can say it doesn't get easier but you do seem to adapt to life in a sort of parallel universe where your life goes on and eventually becomes the norm but don't rush things, spend time with your memories and cry when you need to.

I found the following little verse a great help.

Grief leaves a heartache no-one can heal
Love leaves a memory no-one can steal
Grief is the price we pay for love.

And don't forget to look after yourself Joan, don't negrect to eat, even if it is just a little.

Hello Joan,

I also sadly know the heartache after losing my husband like you.... married 56 years but "courting" 4 years before. It's so hard to adjust and go forward alone, but your family will be a comfort.

One day at a time is the best way with baby steps for now and remember to be kind to yourself too. X
