Viv Wasn't it 'What do you wanna make those eyes at me for' that Emile Ford sang? I remember my Mum and Dad having a disagreement about whether the old version (from the Forties?) was better than Emile Ford's version! My favourite group was the Beatles, George Harrison was my fave! I went to see them at Hammersmith Odeon with my best mate. There was a girl sitting in front of us holding up a Beatles umbrella and we couldn't see the stage. My mate wrenched it out of her hand and sat on it! We nearly got chucked out! Also on the bill were the Yardbirds. I also liked the Hollies especially Alan Clarke, the Searchers and the Swinging Blue Jeans. Sue - definitely a child of the 60s!

Emile Ford and The Checkmates, Them There Eyes is one of my favourites. Have a sister who's 14 years older than me so was dragged up on 50's and 60's music by her. I was born in 1957! Viv.

Yes, Twinkle sang "Please wait at the gates of heaven for me, Te-e-rryyyy". I always regretted being just too young in the 60s. When I was a teenager it was either heavy metal or really drippy ballads. I loved "Every time that you walk into the room" and "Today I met the boy I'm going to marry". I also remember in the playground at primary school all the girls would say which pop singer they'd most like to be. Cher came top, then Dusty Springfield and Lulu and Sandie Shaw. Cilla was always last! Helen

Thank you, Maureen. Carol King was good. Good old google. Here's The Crystals:- He's a Rebel By the Crystals See the way he walks down the street Watch the way he shuffles his feet My, he holds his head up high When he goes walking by He's my guy When he holds my hand I'm so proud 'Cause he's not just one of the crowd My baby, oh he's the one To try the things they've never done Just because of that they say CHORUS He's a rebel and he'll never ever be any good He's a rebel and he'll never ever be understood And just because he doesn't do what everybody else does That's no reason why I can't give him all my love He is always good to me, always treats me tenderly 'Cause he's not a rebel, no no no He's not a rebel, no no no, to me INSTRUMENTAL If they don't like him that way, they won't like me after today I'll be standing right by his side, when they say CHORUS He's a rebel and he'll never ever be any good He's a rebel 'cause he never ever does what he should And just because he doesn't do what everybody else does That's no reason why we can't share a love He is always good to me, good to him I'll try to be 'Cause he's not a rebel, no no no He's not a rebel, no no no, to me (He's not a rebel, no no no He's not a rebel, no no no He's not a rebel, no no no He's not a rebel, no no no). Then there's Peter, Paul and Mary. Brenda Lee. Remember "And then he kissed me" by the Crystals? Roy Orbison. Bobby Vee. 3 Dog night. Wilson Pickett "In the midnight hour". Gene Pitney. Ray Charles. Stevie Wonder. Last one tonight, must go to bed. Poetry in Motion By Johnny Tillotson When I see my baby What do I see Poetry poetry in motion Poetry in motion walking by my side Her lovely locomotion Keeps my eyes open wide Poetry in motion see her gentle swaying A wave out on the ocean Could never move that way I love every movement There's nothing I would change She doesn't need improvement She's much too nice to rearrange Poetry in motion dancing close to me A flower of devotion a-swaying gracefully Woh-woh-woh-woh-woh-woh Woh-woh-woh-woh-woh.... Poetry in motion see her gentle swaying A wave out on the ocean Could never move that way I love every movement There's nothing I would change She doesn't need improvement She's much too nice to rearrange Poetry in motion all that I adore her No number nine love potion Could make me love her more Woh-woh-woh-woh-woh-woh Woh-woh-woh-woh-woh.... They don't write words like that any more!! Joy

My wife is a great Elvis fan so I can't escape, I must admit though a lot of his ballad style music (which she prefers) is very good. Bob
