hi lesley welcome to bucks lol my rellies were from aylesbury,ivinghoe,lacey green, bledlow and high wycombe. hubbys were from chalfont st giles and marsh gibbon do you live in bucks still or not susie

This is the first time I have seen this thread. I was not on the boards when it started. I have all of my family from the 1800's from Bucks and I am having an awful time with them. They vanish, re-emerge and most of them just wont die!! I am looking for Sessions and Morton specifically, all born around Colnbrook, Langley Marish, Datchet, Eton and some over in Harmondsworth. Any takers??? Smiles Les

Len, Thanks for that - maybe, one day I will find some relations in the area - let's hope so - it would be nice. Susie - I now have Edgington's (and numerous spellings/variations of) coming out from everywehre. Gaynor If Grandma was ill, he probably chose Marlow as it was a pleasant little town with a hospital and all the services of that day and age. Wycombe, about the same distance away, was more industrial, mainly the chair industry. and exceedingly hilly whereas Marlow is on the level, has a nice park and river walks. I know which location I would choose ! Len

Morning Fred and Len Fred after the fiasco with the name change and Susie's questions - still really haven't got a clue who you are lol. Len - thank you so much for looking. You have been of far more help than you probably realise. At least I think that I can now assume that Grandad died in a private home rather that a hospital, hospice or nursing home - and that's something more than I knew before. Susie has managed to trace loads of Edgington's in Bucks for me - just a case of finding a link - it must be there with that name. Plus, I always asked myself the question - when he was advised to move away for Grandma's sake - why of all the places did he choose Marlow? I am beginning to think and hope that he already had a relative there. Just that elusive missing link. And Len, sorry we missed you - I had a lovely day, really enjoyed myself :-)))))) Gaynor xxxx

The beer is a lot better up here Len ,but the fish and chips don,t compare very well with Duces ,my sister ran that chain as manager in the 60s and i had free fish and chips for years till she moved to lincolnshire.I moved to newcastle cause i couldn,t find a house in wycombe ,but wish i hadn,t ,i miss bucks and the people so much it,s unbelievable,.Newcastle has it,s compensations though ,the locals are great so long as the mackums don,t come to town ,and they are a great lot too ,it,s only when they come together that the fun starts.The coast is only 14 miles away so we have the best of both worlds as regards recreation.Fred.

We in totteridge were a bit better off then Susie ,we used to be able to pick Hazlenuts ,but i do remember the beechnuts,,they tasted great ,but you needed to pick nuts for half an hour ,and peel them to get a gobfull.lol,no wonder the squirells were so busy ,and never grew to any size Fred.

hi len oh wat a shame we missed you,maybe next time eh? fred no,im in wycombe but the woods are full of beech trees lol i can remember as a child going into booker woods with my nan and collecting beech nuts.they were tiny but delicious lol susie

I come from totterigge Len and my heart is still down there ,but i live in Newcastle now friend ,and i can walk a mile or so if i take my time ,but 285 ,is a bit too much i,m afraid lol,hope you all had a good day ,you should have all worn a carnation ,so that you would know one another on sight.. I went along to the BucksFHS Fair in Aylesbury today hoping to see some of you - but did not reckon on it being so big with seemingly thousands there. That was a bit of wishful thinking on my part as I have no idea what any of you look like. What did you mean "it was too far", Fred ? Only if you have to walk. Len

judith you are welcome to come along to beechy bucks when ever you like m'duck we are a friendly bunch and enjoy giving hospitality lol we aint posh or nothing ,sound a bit like country bumpkins(or so ive been told)lmao susie

you can come anytime you like Judeth ,and anyone else for that matter,your part of the country is as beutiful as bucks,but in a different way and as you know i visit often,but always come home via the a40 and visit my beloved chilterns [best of both worlds] Fred.

Hi Gaynor Tempus fugits - and I don't always notice. I have been to Studley Green and walked all over it (its only a hamlet) but found out nothing useful. The place is not large enough for a church or any other sort of institution so I am rather at a loss as to where to enquire next. Len

Lol susie den the men changed his handle to a gr one and became fred from totteridge lane ,ahem ,i,m embaressed now cause i thought i had informed people ,my memory is going from bad to worse. Iv,e been back to the hospital all is fine and i,m now just waiting for a date.Triple bypass it is and should be home about five days after the op.Hope to have a lot more energy afterwards as these grandbairns are wearing me out and there is still five weeks to go mumeeeeeeeee.Fred.

just had a thought here....(not often i get one of those) has anyone heard from dennis??? he used to chat on this thread a lot.the last i heard from him he was going into jhospital for a heart by-pass, i do hope hes alright. all his messages have disappeared from this thread susie

Susie I had a problem patch in my little garden - it was where there had been a diesel spillage from a delivery of central heating oil some years previously. Eventually I covered the area with gravel as nothing would grow there. Diesel is deadly to plants. My late father-in-law killed all his roses by putting the ash from his bonfire round them. He had helped his bonfire to get going with a splash of diesel and the residue was still in the wood ash. Len
