I am searching for Mary Teresa Johnson, born May 1945, Birmingham to alfred and Gladys Johnson. My husband Michael's family were all split up when their mother gladys died in 1950. My husband Michael was 17days old and was adopted.
The last known of Mary was her working in the moseley area of birmingham in a hotel in 1963.
We only need to find her to have the family complete once more as i found my husband's brothers.
I have had a thread about this on Trying To Find for nearly two years. I thought a fresh post may help. We have done an awful lot of research into this and obtained all marriage certificates in the UK for Mary Teresa Johnson.
Could she have gone somewhere like Ireland and married someone over there? Records are not available for Ireland.
Many thanks Rosemary

Hi everyone. Please bear in mind I have a thread on searching for ancestors as there wasn't a living family one when I started my search. Loads of replies on the other one. So please read it, so you don't cover old gound.
Someone recently found a Mary Teresa who travelled to Australia in 1963. The last address for her was in mornington, Victoria in 1985.
Has anyone a search engine please which goes beyond 1985 for the census in Australia.
According to the census, this Mary still had the surname Johnson.
In anticipation, and thankyou

Could you copy and paste the URL (the thread address from your browser bar) on to this thread please? If you edit the title on this board to include 'possibly in Australia' it would attract those with knowledge of resources there.

If you haven't already, it would be useful to copy this one on to the thread on the other board

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jan 2013 23:56

Found the thread via an internet search

Rosemary Report 7 Jan 2013 00:07

I'm really sorry but I don't know how to copy & paste! How awful is that!
But I will update the heading of this thread, thankyou for suggesting it.
Many thanks

Thankyou DetEcTive very much

Rosemary Report 10 Jan 2013 13:51

Hi, heard from someone in australia who advises that it is electoral roles we need to be looking at.
A Mary Teresa Thomas was on the electoral role in the 1980s with a Peter.
Can anyone help further with this please? The area is Melbourne.
Apparently we can't access marriages after 1946!
Just wondered if anyone living in the Melbourne area may know this particular lady please?
Many thanks

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 10 Jan 2013 16:09

There is a P & M Thomas as well as various other P's.

Someone told me that the current ER has to be checked in person, so may be an Australian resident can advise?

Rosemary Report 10 Jan 2013 22:58

Thankyou DetEcTive, i will follow that up.
Is there anyone please who could help me with a lookup for 1966 in South norwood, london? Electoral role?

The siblings Uncle lived there, and we wondered if Mary went to live with them for a time. She was 21 in May 1966.
34, Woodside Avenue. South Norwood.

Thankyou very much.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 11 Jan 2013 10:32

The historical ER on Ancestry only go up to 1965.

Although this particular library doesn't appear to hold copies, they may be able to tell you who does. There would probably be a 'look up' fee.

Rosemary Report 11 Jan 2013 20:26

Thankyou DetEcTive!

I will write to them over the weekend.
It was the address of the sibling's Uncle on their mother's side. And we wondered if Mary went to live there, as they had no children.

Many thanks to you
I will let you know what transpires.

Rosemary Report 14 Jan 2013 22:51

I emailed South Norwood Library, and they have passed it on to the Croydon Library, as South Norwood only hold the current electoral roles. It may take a time.
But thankyou DetEcTive.

Another interesting find, a Mary Teresa Love in New Zealand.
Is anyone able to help me with this please?

jax Report 15 Jan 2013 03:28

This is all I could find in New Zealand

Rosemary Report 15 Jan 2013 09:43

Thankyou jax. I will look at the link later.
Many thanks

Rosemary Report 15 Jan 2013 16:20

Can anyone tell me please if I can search marriages in Scotland?

Jax - Found the address for that Mary Teresa in NZ. Thankyou

jax Report 15 Jan 2013 17:09

You will need to seach on scotlandspeople which is not a subscription site....I could'nt tell you what info is available for recent marriages I'm affraid

Rosemary Report 15 Jan 2013 20:55

Thankyou Jax. I have tried there this afternoon strangely enough.
No luck though with what I hoped to find!

Had an email from Croydon Library today, unfortunately Mary wasn't at that address in 1966.67.

Thankyou for the help. I've got to have a breakthrough soon, after 9 years of searching!!
Many thanks

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Jan 2013 23:25

As you and your siblings have added your names to all sorts of 'Looking For' lists, someone must come across them one day.

Just make sure that you and whoever else has placed them keep their registered email address up to date or use a generic one. ;-)

Has anyone suggested placing an advert in one of the Australian newspapers on the off chance?

Rosemary Report 16 Jan 2013 11:16

We've only Mary to find DetEcTive. She is my hubbie's sister.
Yes we have put adverts in an australian newspaper & women's magazine. But
nothing! May be worth doing again.

Thankyou for your thoughts.

Rosemary Report 17 Jan 2013 12:20

We've switched our search to New Zealand. I will let you know if we have any luck. Many thanks for all help
