I am new to this and i'm trying to find out about my mothers side of the family, as she passed away when i was very young.

Would love to find some family or even just some names of Grandparents, as the names seems quite popular.

Her maiden name was Pardon (dads name im guessing) and her mothers maiden name was Porter.

Open to any suggestions

Look forward to hearing from you

Do you have a year and location? The first thing is to pin down her birth. Her birth cert will give parents' names.

Having said that, there is only one Pardon/Porter marriage! From Freebmd, which you can use yourself:

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

Marriages Jun 1929
Pardon Harry Porter W. Ham 4a 156
Porter Gladys E Pardon W.Ham 4a 156
Purdon Harry Porter W.Ham 4a 156 (I assume thus is the incorrect entry!)

This is the only Pardon/Porter marriage I can see:-

Name: PARDON, Harry
Registration district: West Ham
County: Essex
Year of registration: 1929
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Spouse's last name: Porter
Volume no: 4A
Page no: 156

Name: PORTER, Gladys E
Registration district: West Ham
County: Essex
Year of registration: 1929
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Spouse's last name: Pardon
Volume no: 4A

I can see births for seven possible children from this marriage. What was your mother's name?

Check the freebmd site for possible siblings' names, then look on this GR site for those people in SEARCH TREES.

There are some matches showing that people have included them in their trees.
Click the tree owners name to make contact and hopefully share information.

You need Freebmd as put by Rose above.
Just play around with the site - I would find your mother's birth entry first. You can search specifying just surname and mother's maiden name, and see what turns up.
Census returns are not available after 1911. There are electoral registers, but these obviously only show people of voting age. On the whole you need an address to search for, though there are some available online, particularly for London I believe.

You can go on Ancestry and look for Perkins/Pardon births. You won't get all the details but you can see the names.

Do they know about you? I see some of them on Facebook.

She died in 1998.

Im not sure if they know about me :/ I know her husbands name, however they would be my half siblings. My mum was with my dad and never got married to him, she had my brother in 1982 and me in 1990. and died in 1998.

She kept her family a secret and also i have only just found out that she had more children. (My dad didnt know) Very confusing story!!

Freebmd really confuses me!

I see 5 children to her.

Will PM the names.

It does look like she was born in June 1950 though according to the death.

Jodie,

To find uncles and aunts, use FreeBMD. Search using the surname Pardon with mother's surname Porter.

Jodie,

One of your half siblings has your mother in her tree on this site. She has the wrong birth year.

If you decide to contact her, take it very slow. Don't come out and say "I'm your half sister"! Just say you are looking for any info. on a Pamela Jean Pardon and take it from there.

Otherwise, go through social services or some other 3rd party.

Good luck,

Rose

Go to Search Trees at the top. Enter your mother's name and you will see which one as the name will be in the right column.
