Sadie Report 8 Jul 2013 14:01

Hi I am looking for my dad. I have never met him and would welcome any help on tracing him. I have very limited information. He's called Jon short for Jonathan mcatamney, had parents who I believe are now dead in Mansfield, notts. he was born circa 1951 in Australia. He wasn't married to my mother, Mavis Hessey. I have found a Jon mcatamney here on births and have sent a message with no reply. It has a green envelope at the side of it still, does that mean its not been opened.? I am not sure of the spelling of mcatamney but this seems to be the correct way in Australia so am assuming its right . Thanks and best regards. Sadie

If you know his parents names then that would help pinpoint him.

Is he believed to live in the UK.?

Sadie, if you can see the envelope it means the message hasn't been opened.
Do you know if he is likely to be in Aus or UK?

It's just a guess but there is one in Sydney, mentioned on Linkedin

Quite an unusual name, seems to originate Northern Ireland?

Is this his parents ? If so he may have been the informant on the death certs

I would get the latest one to see who the informant was

Because it's an unusual name I'm sending you a message with marriage of a Mcatamney in Notts...may not be connected, though, could be sister?

Hi Shirley I believe they are. There was a m mcatamney listed on phone records on king Edward ave, Mansfield, I believe this was my grandmother. Who would I contact to see who the informant was? I believe he's in aus not in the uk but am not sure. There was also a girl named Zoe mcatamney born in 1973 in Mansfield but I can't find anything recent to contact her other than her mothers name was slaney. She could be a relative. It's such an unusual surname. My mother had maintenance papers drafted and sent via solicitor when I was born so apparently he knows my name but he moved on . The solicitor has passed away and they only keep records for 10 years

Sadie to buy any UK certs get them from

www.gro.gov.uk

Use the ref. given in the death record .this is known as the GRO ref and is their filling ref. so they can locate it

Certs cost £9.25 with the GRO ref.

You have to register on the site ,free, then follow the order form. Tick the box that asks if the GRO ref is known. All you need then is to use the ref where asked for on the boxes .
