thanks brigid, that reminded me to actually do that deleting :-)
(and yes, when people copy and paste and such, the gaps and unnecessary text and line breaks can all be edited out)

glad to have helped a bit more with Joanne's search with some stuff I sent by PM to Grainne who has been doing all the work now

Joanne, you said 'I would know how their surname was spelt I was with them for 18 yrs and took on the name at 11'

which is really a little snarky for somene asking for ... and getting ... help here

the fact is that the name on the marriage record in the index is spelt LAURENCE

error it may be, but that's how it is and that is the only way it can be found

Derek Susan and Cliff are all on facebook

It should be quite easy for Joanne to contact one of them now and ask about Shirley.

Regards

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 22 Apr 2014 22:25

about that

'my could be Ireland as that was my mums step dad I think '

'my' .. what? ... could be Ireland (and yes is that a place or a name)

'that' was your mum's step dad ... what was he? or ... your step dad's what ... was what?

do you mean your foster mum's step dad?

(if you read over your posts you can see what may not make sense and use the 'edit' link to fix them, or just add more information to make it clear ... that one just made no sense at all)

btw is Jackie Jacqueline ?

Rose,
I thought there was a surname 'Ireland' in the mix, as i was just about to ask this:

What does this sentence mean, please?

'my could be Ireland as that was my mums step dad I think '

Joanne,

We need a little more help with places and dates, as we are struggling to find the family.
I have looked for marriages of Shirley A Jarvis, and births of Jackie or Jonathan (in a variety of spellings) with mother's maiden name Jarvis, but there are rather a lot of possibles when the dates are vague and no place for these children is known,

Were the cousins quite a lot younger than you?.

The Bridgwater one also appears to marry there.

Perhaps there is an Irish connection as the poster suggested?

ooo no, that far down a wrong trail? what set me off ?? I'll delete it all as being about somebody else's family after a bit then.

double back to your post that Valerie has a son, that is certainly the best trail to follow I would think

edit - I agree with below and was going to ask, myself

I could not make head nor tails of the post about 'Ireland'.

JoonieCloonie Report 22 Apr 2014 20:55

Rose's mother's surname is very unusual ... there is no marriage to a Jarvis to account for the mother's surname on Rose's birth record

edit - no, that was the wrong Rose - have deleted all info in the thread about the Jarvis-Speck couple
