Have found the daughter and her children plus one son of Olive on facebook

will give you the details by pm

Maybe Olives eldest child went to the US as I cannot see him anywhere...Julian looks to live in the US and he is also one of Olives daughters friends

Her daughter is living in Somerset Rose the same area as where her mother and father died

The tree looked to have belonged to the boyfriend/husband of her granddaughter so there was only a small part of that family mentioned....but it all fitted with what I found

I think you might be better off contacting the nieces and nephews. Quite often people come across these mementos because there are no surviving direct descendants.

For instance, it's odd she mentions the births of her nieces and nephews but not the dates for her own marriage or children.

There is a tree on Ancestry that says she died in Somerset in 2010....but also says born Liverpool.....which of course is wrong

Linda

Linda Report 27 Apr 2014 19:39

Yes Jax, That was what I was thinking.

jax Report 27 Apr 2014 19:34

There is of course a good chance that this family emigrated to the US at some point.

Not seeing them on the London Electoral rolls for 63/64 when that part of London was added

Thanks Rose and Jax for your help, we have eliminated the Greenham marriage/children and are going down the Evans Marriage side as it all seems to fit... Once all this info has been collected it will be sent back to the lady in the US who has the diary and she can then get in touch with them and send the diary off to where it belongs..what a wonderful piece of history to own! Ooops sorry Rose, I dont know how the diary ended up in the US...If I manage to find out, I will post it up here and the outcome.
:-)

Linda

Rose,...The person who I quoted, said she was certain Olive married a Frank Greenham, but now she has been told that it may not be correct on the account that a marriage has been found today for Olive Dench and Alfred EVANS in Dec 1946 in ESSEX,SW.... the same area as her brother Laurence and neice's/nephews,- I can see 2 references which could be Olive and Alfred's children, .... ..1, David Evans born 1947 and 2, Sarah Evans born 1958, both also born ESSEX SW. The diary said the address was Nelson Road Chingford, which back then came under ESSEX SW So I guess they feel the Essex route is the right one ( quite how the diary ended up in the US is not known yet)

But your opening post said this:

"We cant find a marriage reference for her in England but we do know she married a Frank Greenham proberly in the US"

Why did you say that?

Rose

jax

jax Report 27 Apr 2014 18:30

If she married Alfred Evans then there are 4 children or maybe just 3 as one was born Cornwall so maybe not the same couple

This would put the family in the right place, or am I confusing things?
