Try looking for info on freebmd

Although, if you aren't sure of the name, you may have problems.

What is your connection?

Birth records for Tonbridge indicate possibly Stanbridge.

Do you have any forenames?

Seeing as you know the address you can look at electoral rolls at Tunbridge library to get the correct surname.

First names 'Kitty' and 'Stan' -but these were probably pet names. Am awaiting search of Electoral Roll - but it is taking AGES

Unless they were at the address before the War...........or after it ended, you won't get info from the ER

Do you have approximate ages for Kitty and Stan?

There are not many marriages of Stanley Stanbridge throughout the country.

David Report 11 Jan 2015 12:15

Patchem
No I have no ages - but know they were a married couple.
I'm pretty sure 'Stan' was a pet name. I have high hopes that the 1945 Electoral Roll will solve my problem.

I did think that actually calling him Stanley Stanbridge was a bit of a mouthful, but there are men with that name so he might have actually been given it.

So no idea if he was born in 1900 or 1920 or around?

Just in case the ER's are not useful, there is this death (as Kitty could be Catherine):

Deaths Jun 1970
STANBRIDGE Catherine Florence 23Oc1901 Tonbridge 5f 2044

and then this possible marriage (if Stan is called such because of his surname):

Marriages Mar 1925
Smith Catherine F Stanbridge Tonbridge 2a 1183
Stanbridge Albert E Smith Tonbridge 2a 1183

Pity it is Smith, but cannot see a birth for her.

Added:
Oh, snappish.

I have found their cremation records. Everything fits. The deaths were both registered at Tunbridge Wells. Unfortunately they are both described as being of 14 Hill View Road, Rusthall - which is 2 miles west of Tunbridge Wells. If they are the right couple they have moved!Unfortunately the names of the persons arranging the cremations are obscured in the records.

My original objective was to learn who was living at 32 Mereworth Road, Tunbridge Wells in about 1944. I have now found the following advert in the Kent & Sussex Courier of 10 March 1944:
'Culverden Dance Band.......Dance promotors are advised to book early......all communications to 32 Mereworth Road, Tun. Wells'
Can anyone find any info about this band ??!!
