" Mr Gerald Bean, a minister in the Assembly of God Church who has travelled all over the country entertaining audiences of thousands of enraptured kiddies."

Sorry ArgillGran to be a pest but in the records you found, did he ever marry ? Please

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Jun 2015 00:09

There's a possible marriage in 1956 in Staincross, Yorkshire - don't know if it's him or not, but Wombwell is in Staincross registration district..

I'll PM you the details, won't post them here as he or his wife may still be alive.

No obvious children of the marriage - at least not in Yorkshire.

Birth is registered in the 3rd quarter of 1932 so some of those entries don't match.

They are on the current electoral register.

One of the possible children was born in Pontypool - and there are phone book entries in 1984 and earlier for a Rev Gerald D Bean in Pontypool.

I had Elsie as his wife, but if he left the uk in 1955 that can't be her . his date of berth change but all that side of the family are dead so no way to check .

Sorry Rose no that is not them the names are the same
. He is now living in the USA

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Jun 2015 00:29

Yes, he left UK in 1955, but he came back later the same year - see Incoming Passenger List I posted earlier.

Different DOB from that given in Outgoing record, but same home address, and occupation.

Home address in same reg district as the marriage.

The man in the photos in the links Rose posted looks about the right age.

The only Facts I know are Gerald's brother Ashley now dead ,or the only two children of my Aunt & Uncle , this is getting weird , Now I will have to trace him " Curiosity Killed the cat" I know but I do know that he went to the USA as an Evangelist to " preach on the corner of the street in New York" that was what I was told be my mother . :-0 I was at the time as that was not the Gerald I knew

There are only 2 Gerald D Beans born in the UK. The other one was in 1910 so those pictures must be of your Gerald.

To top it off, there's the whole churchy thing going on!

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Jun 2015 00:44

From all the various bits of info above, it all fits.

DOB in Outgoing travel record is presumably the correct one.
He came back to UK later in 1955, married Elsie 1956, lives (or lived) in Wales.
Has possibly at least one child.

Rose says G&E are on the current electoral register.
