If that's Margaret's death in 1998, I wonder why she reverted to her maiden surname?

And by the way - she wasn't born in Scotland - unless her middle name wasn't registered.

Margaret would have been almost 44 when she married. Have to think any children were born before this.

Here's Margaret's death:

Name: Margaret Farmer Donald
Event Type: Death Registration
Registration Quarter: Jan-Feb-Mar
Registration Year: 1998
Registration District: Bridlington
County: Yorkshire
Event Place: Bridlington, Yorkshire, England
Age (available after 1866):
Birth Date (available after June quarter 1969): 14 Oct 1915
Birth Year (Estimated):
Volume: 5441
Page: 41A

So that birth in 1970 can't be her daughter.

I assume Archibald is the poster's father.

Samuel was of Bridlington, Yorks according to the probate site. Widow was Margaret Farmer Mckinlay. This comes under Buckrose district so maybe that birth is related.

Not seeing a birth for her under Donald, unless she was born in Scotland.

Looks like an uncle, perhaps, right age 20 years older than the Samuel born 1927, but would say that it's the same family. Samuel named after his grandfather maybe.

If there was a son is he invisible because he was born prior to marriage or was the mother married before and her maiden name not Donald.

The marriage cert will give that answer with her father's name.

Samuel, there was a previous marriage, Edited* may or may not* be related to the birth you have on your tree ( your own birth I assume) so do you have any evidence that there was a child to the second marriage or is it a guess?

What is odd is that when I looked at trees for the name Samuel Mckinlay , I noticed that someone else ( a couple) has the same name in their tree, they also cropped up yesterday on a seperate search I had done yesterday for someone in the same area, I can't see a connection though.

PatinCyprus Report 29 Feb 2016 16:12

In the early 1960s the RAF were all over the world, the family may have been in UK at the time of his death but his son could have been born on a previous overseas posting. He's in Aden at the end and could have been just detached in to pack up things, we don't know. If it was just a detachment his posting for instance could have been Malta or Cyprus.

Edit just found info, families were evacuated from Aden in 1967. Families were out here during EOKA troubles in the 1950s and again in 1974. At least 1 wife killed out here. A children's party was attacked in December 1964 in Aden. I child killed (an Air Commodore's daughter) 4 injured.

Are you sure there was a child as I've checked with FMP for overseas birth, my son's is there (service birth overseas) but no Mckinlay with mmn Donald.

This wasn't a 2nd marriage was it, he would have been 31/32 in 1959?
