We are looking for George Wright, born around 1985. His mother was called Glynes and was partner to Dennis William Wright. George spent his early life in Barn Cross Farm, Crookham Village, Fleet, Hampshire. His father has recently died, and we need to communicate this news to him. His mother's family were from London. If anyone has any information about George please contact me.

Thank you

Welcome to the boards Catherine. Could you please edit your opening post to remove your email address as its against the sites T&C. Anyone with up to date info can contact you by PM by clicking on your name.
If you haven't already, click the Watch This button at the top of the thread - that way you'll be adivsed when anyone adds to the thread.

As you are a Wright, does this mean that Dennis and Glynes went their seperate ways, or that George hasn't been in contact with either of them for a while? Do you have any idea of Glynes' maiden/birth name as that might help to trace George's birth to see if he had middle initials, or even Glynes herself if you have lost contact.

Hi - thanks for answering. Dennis Wright (my father) and Glynes (first name, do not know surname) were never married and split up when George was around 18 months I think.

Shirley - what is meant by "looks like she is Glenys M husband Barry"?

It is possible George dropped his Wright surname - we haven't been in contact for about 30 years.

I have just discovered that the last known address in around 1987 for George Wright may have been Cross Farm Cottages, Crookham Village, Fleet, Hampshire GU51.

Please let me know if this helps discover his whereabouts now.

Thank you.

I looked for a birth for George and then for a possible marriage

Came up with a posible for a Glenys M to a Barry wright

Just shows surname combinations aren't unique

Would it be worth contacting the Hampshire Library service? https://tinyurl.com/mqdehg3

They might be able to look the address up on the historical ER and give you the correct spellings for his mother, and any middle initials she might have. They would probably make a charge. Although Fleet Library has a local studies centre, they are currently closed for refurbishment.

Shirley, is the George Wright (mother's maiden name Owen), not the correct George?

The marriage for Glenys to Barry is in the correct registration district for Crookham. Did you discount that marriage?

Austin
No that's what I came up with but the poster queried the finding

Was explaining how I came up with the info

Seems it's not the right couple as the ones being looked for weren't married and the male had a diffrent Christian name

The opening posting was added to after the initial posting

It would help if all the known info is posted in the first place :-)

Oh, OK. I must still be reading it wrong.

I thought Dennis and Glynes had gone their separate ways and that Dennis had now passed away.

It still fits from the information given. They haven't seen George since 1987- presumably he stayed with his mother. The marriage you found for his possible mother was in 1988.

Austin - you are correct - Dennis and Glynes had gone their separate ways and Dennis has now passed away. Dennis Wright is George Wright's father (and my father). Glynes or Glenys owned the house, which is why it makes it all the more difficult me not knowing her surname.

Shirley - I only have very limited information as they split up when I was a child, and I haven't seen George, my half-brother since he was 18 months old. It is a complex family dynamic which I don't wish to go in to.

Detective - thanks for the suggestions to contact Fleet library - I may give that a try.

Do you all think that Glynes' surname may be Owen? That would be very helpful. Please could you confirm?

Thank you all for your help with this - much appreciated.

There is a birth for a George Wright in North East Hampshire (which covers Crookham area) . I don't see any other George Wrights born in Hampshire around the correct time.

The birth gives mother's maiden name as Owen.

Looking at possible Glenys Owens in the area, there is a marriage in 1988- this is the marriage Shirley was referring to.

I'll pm the marriage and current address.

If time is of the essence, you could see if there is a phone number linked to the address AustinQ had sent. We wouldn't normally recommend phoning someone out of the blue but in the circumstances you may feel it's necessary.

Barry and Glenys have their email address and phone number online (listed in 2017) - I'll pm them to you.

Oh, just to add- Catherine acknowledged the address and thanked us for helping. She is going to follow up the information.

Yes - thank you all again. I have the phone number too and will let you know how I got on. I do hope it's the right family.

Hello all - just to say that I called the Glenys Knight, as you kindly suggested, that may be George Wright's mother and she is not. She doesn't have a son called George.

Any further ideas?

Thank you

Glenys was married before as George is registered under her previous husband's (unusual) surname also. I searched for a marriage for this couple and the wife was Glenys M Owen.
