Aircraft Co. employees at Toronto (Canada) for the patients at Roehampton. This gift Is greatly appreciated and it is hoped this good donation will continue for a long time. This effort was started by Mr. Stanley McGee, the late hon. secretary of Barnes

ArgyllGran Report 26 Aug 2023 20:00

On the 1960 travel record, Stanley was a "representative" - and also on the 1963 Voters List - but don't know of what.

On the 1950 trip to Detroit, he was an insurance underwriter.

The partial newspaper report posted by Kay???? continues,

" . . . . the late hon. secretary of Barnes Football Club, who emigrated to Canada with his wife and family about two years ago. He is not now with that firm, but they continue the good work he started. . . . "

Then there are details of the money raised by the appeal.

The start of the article says:
". . . . . Another big consignment of books and novels has been received from the De Haviland Aircraft Co. employees at Toronto (Canada) . . . . ."

Thank you all for all this info, as I mentioned in an earlier post I am very much on learning curve and what has been sent to me is very much appreciated.
I now have the " Birth Certificate" for Stanley Mcgee b 24/06/1916 and as I suspected rhere is know " Father" indicated on it, He was born at Warkworth House Twickenham Road Isleworth which was at that time " Workhouse / Mother baby home.his Mother Grace Mcgee was a " Programme Seller" at the local theatre in Isleworth. Grace Married Richard Bridger in 1917 and in 1919 my Mother came along Kathleen Anne ( known as (Ann) died 1982.
Have tried to find the Children of Stanley & Dorothy by way of the BMD, however it does seem that I am doing something wrong in that search as I cannot find them
I would love to know what happened to Grace Bridger ( née McGee) after 1921 as my Mother had little memory of Her and never mentioned to me of any " Half Brother"

What sources are you using, other than bmd, for finding them?

Spreading your questions over two threads is confusing. You have just mentioned Grace for the first time on this thread - information about her is on your other thread.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 27 Aug 2023 11:45

As advised on the other thread……

Go to freebmd website and click on ‘search’

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Select BIRTHS

Put in the two correct surnames in the appropriate boxes, and click ‘find

There are ONLY two results

We can’t do it for you as they are too recent to post on here - and anyway it’s good for you to learn how to do things for yourself.

For future reference, it isn’t good to post more than one thread about the same person…..as per site guidelines.

Fortunately ~I have a good memory, and know how much time and effort I put into the previous post, so could call it up on ‘advanced search’

nameslessone Report 27 Aug 2023 11:58

The children ARE on freebmd. Don’t add a registration district as the younger one was not born in Surrey. It was quite common for pregnant women to be moved into the country for the births of children.
Also some registrations you would expect to find in London were actually completed in Wales, although not this 2nd child.
