I've complained about the same issue before and nothing ever happens. This was Phil's response in 2011.

Personally, I would like to see "active" announcements appearing as stickied threads at top of all boards, and also shown on home page. This is currently being reviewed. We want to make sure as many members as possible are aware of any announcements we need to make.

I thought it used to show NEW against that board but that disappeared ages ago.

Certainly needs something doing as I seldom look at it.

Not sure I want every annoucement posted on every single board like a rash but surely there must be a simple way of drawing members attention to that board

It DID used to say "NEW" against the Announcement Board when a new announcement was made ..........

then it stopped appearing.



................. it attracted your attention as long as you looked at the Community Discussion Boards screen, where there is Discussion Boards Summary


I do happen to have GR set so that it opens on the Community Discussion Boards, and have developed the habit of glancing at the number of threads shown for Announcements.

I then selectively post information on any announcement that seems as though it may be of interest to members on relevant Boards.

Yesterday, I did not do this ................ but I did, much later, spot a thread on General Chat re the new announcement on passwords. That thread had not attracted much attention, and had sunk to p. 3 or 4!

I went to look at the announcement, and then re-posted it on 2 other boards.
