I would also have thought that as Nana Sue is a regular visiter to the GR offices that she could have taken this up with them during one of her visits!!!!

:-D

Dare I say this ....but this thread had a lot of reported people on it myself included.

My posts were not put back (inappropriate content ) and I was contacted by Genes and told to ignore people that I do not see eye to eye with.

I have done that but as far as I can see it has been Nudged up for more reactions again by the original poster after we all left this thread alone for 8 days

Roy. 12 Jun 2013 19:45 .........NS. 20 Jun 2013 08:42

I suppose some have to sit on there hands and some don't or won't :-|

Sue ;-)

Edit.

I am sitting on my hands again with this one ;-)

NS

As your query has been answered by GR members, I'm not sure why you have nudged this back up the boards?

If you 'doubt' the information that has been supplied, the best way to verify, is to contact GR directly as they appear to show no interest in respect of your thread as no GR staff have responded

I am wondering why this needs urgent attention....is this poster special or something?

Edit - So if you do not like a particular thread, you have to contact GR by email to complain, then if they agree they will remove it?? This could also take 3 or 4 days if it falls at the weekend or bank holiday....you obviously did not use the boards before 2011 then

I really do not understand this thread .........

....... and I'm sure this has mentioend earlier in the thread, but I have not read back.

The OP states .............

---------------
I would suggest the OP's are locked so they can only be edited by the author or by GR.

We have lost some very useful and interesting threads of late because people don't like what is written or later down the line when they are annoyed at what somebody trying to say they report/rr the OP. When others are not able to read the OP, they don't understand what is going on and they start to generalise. In some cases the flow has gone completely off topic and a bit nasty......................less said the better.

I concede that an OP can be reported for a decision to be made later but not rr'd so that it suddenly disappears from the boards leaving a hole in the flow of the following messages.

-----------------

Only the poster or GR can edit any post, whether it be the opening post or number 500

No-one else can edit ANY post on this site. Nor should they be able to

ANY member, including free members, can report any post that they find offensive, objectionable, or for any other reason.

Posts used to be left in place .................. and that caused a lot of trouble because many posts are reported "for cause".

The response to an RR of a post is automatic, and computer-generated ............. there is not a monitor there just waiting to push the button.

so, we are left with having RR'd posts left or removed.

I much prefer seeing them removed.

The problem, of course, is the malicious reporting of posts, either because the RR'er has a dislike of the poster OR of the topic .....

................ remember all the posts that were needlessly RR'd because the poster dared to mention the word "ancestry"??

But the idea that anyone else can edit a post is completely wrong.

Surely not DC (neePP)

May be then as the OP is Researching, The gentle approach - A lady with a heart of gold willing to help anybody,

I would be more than willing to help with that research in order to find such a person

DazedConfused AKA Piglets Pal, I thought Reggie was just quoting what NS had posted 4 Jun 2013 16:34 and I had also quoted 4 Jun 2013 16:54 in my reply to her? but according to NS 4 Jun 2013 17:49 the quote was aimed at you in your former life as Piglets Pal,

Just why anyone would start a thread on a "Community" board and then when asked to clarify what is being suggested in their OP to refuse is frankly bazar as i said in my post

Porkie_Pie Report Edit Delete 4 Jun 2013 11:40
No point starting a THREAD if your not going to "Add" to it or make yourself available to comment further to any replies added

Roy

Edit According to the OP this suggestion "needs urgent attention" very bazar

DazedConfused

DazedConfused Report 12 Jun 2013 12:15

Having read Reggies post above - thought to myself - I did not say that. So went back through the threads and realised he was talking to Porkie Pie and not me Piglets Pal.

Have had this before, so now in order for me not to be shortened to PP and to avoid confusion I am going to change my board name.... :-D

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 12 Jun 2013 10:17

"PP I don't come back to posts because.......and besides I'm not sitting on my bum all day - I do have other things going on in my life)"

Some people don't have the option do anything else...............this poster obviously has no thought or consideration for the disabled etc among our members

Gee

Gee Report 5 Jun 2013 18:42

Soon, everyone's threads/posts will be gone.....except for the ones that are always 'right'

How scary is that :-0

NB: For those who know little about posts. They can only be edited/deleted by the poster or GR

To clarify: No one can edit or delete a post, except the poster themselves or GR

In addition: Your posts cannot be altered by anyone other than yourself or GR

hope that helps

:-)

Susan

I've been re reading your deleted post - to me it shrieks of exasperation.
But I think the issue must be on the wording of the 'decency' sentence. This is, I think, slightly different wording to the original post on that deleted Thread.

Inappropriate Content.

I am shocked to tell you the truth I have never been accused of that before :-|

DazedConfused

DazedConfused Report 5 Jun 2013 12:51

I have had cause in the past to report I think 2 posts and both times I said I was going to report them and gave my valid reasons for doing so.

I am not happy about reporting but in some instances it has to be done.

One was about a paedophile and his name was mentioned. Now my concern is that this was the same name as a cousin of mine (not same area) but knowing how dumb some people can be I was concerned for not only his safety but other of the same name. Especially as it was not a high profile national case at the time.

What does bother me are the tit for tat RR's that happen occassionally and normally over the weekend when there is no-one around at admin to deal with these.

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 5 Jun 2013 12:21

No change their then

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/suggestions/thread/1325825

Edit, I question that their is a valid reason for most of the posts that are reported anonymously and it's about time people were held to account for such actions

As with this thread i have reported it and given my reasons on the thread
