Hi all,

someone has asked to find out a registration district for them.

She was born 34 Highgate convent west hill.
in a catholic mother and baby home in Oct 1957

what would the registration district be on there birth certificate please.

jax Report 10 Sep 2013 16:32

Have you looked up the birth reg on Freebmd?

Andysmum Report 10 Sep 2013 16:37

Which town are we talking about, please?

Highgate in London? or West Hill, in Devon, or Somerset, or Aberdeen?

If you look up the birth on FreeBMD or on Genes it will tell you the registration district.

Diane Report 10 Sep 2013 16:39

Sorry about that,

jax Report 10 Sep 2013 16:39

Edmonton or St Pancras possibly?/

Best thing to do is google it

Edit I just found this

Diane Report 10 Sep 2013 16:45

I was swaying towards St Pancras, never thought of Edmonton though.
Thanks jax.

Kay???? Report 10 Sep 2013 18:46

All births that took place in Highgate 34 West Hill, St Pegilias ,were registered under Islington.hope this helps.

Diane Report 10 Sep 2013 19:48

Really Kay,

Are you sure this is back in 1957 remember.

patchem Report 10 Sep 2013 20:47

If it is Pelagia:

Kay???? Report 10 Sep 2013 21:21

Because where the convent/home was situated it came under Islington borough.

Its main agency and birth file record holders are off Ladbrook Grove W10.

Porkie_Pie Report 11 Sep 2013 11:06

The area is divided between three London boroughs: Haringey in the north, Camden in the south and west, and Islington in the south and east.

So no surprised that part of Highgate comes under Islington for BMD registrations
