Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 25 Mar 2005 20:46

Greeting's Again Elaine.... Confirmation of Christening's in Wigston Magna. CHARLES HURST. 19th. August. 1789. Wigston Magna. Father:- John Hurst. Mother:- Anne. ( No other name given) WILLIAM HURST. 11th. June. 1810. Wigston Magna. Father:- Charles Hurst. Mother:- Lucy. ( No other name given ) Spotted this one as well :- Mary Hurst. 22nd. October. 1787. Wigston Magna. Father:- John Hurst. Mother:- Anne. ( No other name given ) Sorry didn't find any thing for Charles or John's Marriage But seeing that Lucy came from outside the County then maybe the Marriage took place in Stowmarket ? ' Details given in Parish Records per 1837.'..... Speaking from personal experiences doubt if you get the maiden name via these for a birth .... It usually states some thing like this .... ' Christian Name of Child '..... Son / Daughter of ' Christian or full names of either Father or Mother ' and if your lucky a date but you always get the Vicar's Name ... I think you'll have to ask for a look up from someone in Suffolk area on this site re:- Stowmarket. ...sorry Details for Work House :- Do you know which one the death took place in and what year ? Again if before 1837. I believe there was no certificates issued but if after then a certificate was given so armed with the date then look for a possible match on the GRO site and order the certificate it should give maiden name ...but having said that ONLY if the informant know the name in the first place.....Sorry to be a wet blanket....... Now this injection of Prozac ? Do you remember which end it goes in ? ...umm..OUCH... lol. 8-) MIKE. Beverly..... 'Nice one '......well done...

Greeting's again Robert. Abbreviations found in use on Census:- GD/Son SIL. The way I read it Thomas & Arron belonged to Thomas the Farmer on that 51. Census return. Eleanor might have been away on the night of Census. ( Sunday 30th. March. 1851.) The relationship of the person shown on the Census returns always relates to the HEAD of the household. Pre 1837 Details..... There is no certificates as we know them..... You can obtain photo copies from any fiche which gives the details from Parish Records.... Most Record Offices or FHS Centres offer this service... Best to do this in the Office which is local to the area you are interested in.... But Latter Day Saints Family History Centres will order these fiches (£2.70p per fiche & 5 day working notice) and held for your use for 28 days. MIKE.

Greeting's Again Robert.... Not having the 1851. Census Image in front of me To see the way it has been set out... But there is a code of Marks ( oblique slashes) used by the enumerates :- \\ = Start and finish of a Household. \ = Start of a Family (Head) of the same surname living within the household. and change of surname Name but still living within the household Mary FS = Mary of the same name living within the household. FS = Female servant (if with a different surname) FS = Farm Servant ( surname the same as Head of household.) Therefore :- 1841. Aaron & Hannah ( Married) Siblings = Thomas, David, Mary. 1851. :- Hannah HEAD. (Aaron deceased) Siblings = Thomas, Sarah. Robert belongs to Thomas (Farmer.) Aaron Cooke belongs to Eleanor he maybe staying with Grand parent on the night of Census. Sunday 30th. March 1851. (Which could have been at Easter time ? ) while Eleanor is in child birth Sorry I think I said that both belonged to Thomas in my previous post ...sorry.... MIKE. BEVERLY...... Can you confirm you saw any oblique slashes on that Image you got via goggle ?

Thanks Mike Wigston would be right but just can't seem to pull them all together. Later in 1871 a Hannah Griffin nee Hurst is in Hinckley with an Alfred Hurst, Alfred's mother is Jemima Stretton (Bev should remember that one) which brings me back to the surname of Hurst you deciphered ages ago -see I don't forget and it's a long round about way to give you a potted history and say thank you. Hannah's parents are William and Mary and my descendants are William and Ann and Thomas ??? who knows LOL Elaine

Greeting's Again Robert..... There you go then ....... Just a point of slight confusion ..... Bleamor ? ? is this a typing error of the translator ? and it should have been Eleanor Thomas's Wife. and also explains Aaron with grandparents in 1851. I see that on the 1871. Census Thomas has changed his occupation to Omnibus Proprietor and moved to 64, Granby Street.... MIKE. Good here ain't it ....lol :0) ~D] Tea Time now ~D]
