Hi all, I realise I'm replying on an old thread, and this isn't critical to the genealogy ... but Luanshya is in Zambia (not Zimbabwe) ... I lived in Y Avenue.

Ok Sylv wilco :))

Dizzi...Dad trained at HMS Ganges which was a boys' training depot, I don't think it was a ship in the true sense, bit confused is me.

Meg, Hi flower, Nope dunno when or where grandaddy Taylor died, I know that dad was the only one to come over here, don't even know if Daddy Taylor is still breathing this precious air. I know he high tailed it down south somewhere tho, and married again the muppet. ;)

I am hard pushed to see what we can do with the Taylors. If grandad William Corry Taylor was born in Rhodesia, the I am a bit lost. Did he die in the UK? Loads of Wiliam C Taylors in Free BMD. Bob, do you know when he died?

Sorry Bobso.

nah

leave it

someone might still see and have a bright idea, or a lead.

It will stay listed in your My Threads, so you'll always be able to find it, and raise it to the surface if you want.

Here it is peeps,

St Clements Church, Chorlton Cum Hardy. Manchester. 23/4/1955. Marriage of Marion Dore and William Corry Taylor.

William's fathers name....William Corry Taylor ( Doh, no imagination !)
William's fathers occupation...Plasterer.
Marion's fathers name.....Cyril Dore.
Marion's fathers occupation...Lorry Driver.

Dads father was recorded as ' Deceased' at the time of marriage.

that's it....

Not much to go on really is there

Think I might be pushing it with this one

yeah

'cept they belong to OH!

and wait till I get onto OH's other families ..... some of 'em were apparently Quakers. Lived in Lancashire till the persecution got bad, then moved to Westmorland. Stayed there until persecution, etc. Then they moved back to Lancashire

AND they all used the same forenames over and over again!

try finding out the birth places of their kids, or their marriages!

and then there were the Welsh ones, who seem to add and subtract names at will

mind you, Janey's the one for having ancestors who change names willy nilly!

Sylvia you're a rum one hehehe!!

I agree Taylor doesn't sound like a foreign name does it? Seeing as Taylor is supposed to be a derivative of Tailor to sew cloth make clothes ect, in other words it's a job name huh? And I'm sure the Dutch Germans had an appropriate name for it, what d'ya reckon?

Cynthia, it's ok hon Your all mad so I'll let you off :)

Jax...I'de love to be your cousin, ( especially with your Genealogical know how ::))))) xx
