JESSIE ASSER nee SHARMAN

I have made contact with Andrew who has George Edwin Asser in his tree.
He has his wife as Rebecca Levy married 1915 Romford Essex. 2 children Vera and Joyce.

I believe that Rebecca died 1930 Hackney.

I have not been able to find the marriage of Jessie Sharman to George Asser. CWGC has Jessie married to George EDWARD Asser but ofcourse this could be a mistake.

Can anyone please find this marriage???

There is a Sharman /Asser marriage in Stepney 1927 but they as different names (James W Asser and Sarah A Sharman), so the 2 children that we have Rosina and Jean, I believe are their children and NOT George and Jessie's.

I see from my PM to you that George was born 1890, Jessie Sharman was born 1910. Second marriage for George?

"Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sharman, of 152 Grantley Street, Stepney; wife of George Edward Asser, of 44 Newcourt House, Horwood Estate. in Tube Shelter accident."

I think that finding no George Edward Asser, I assumed George Edwin Asser.
(Even in the BGTD names we have seen how often Edward / Edwin / Edmund get mixed up -- everything tends to get rounded down to Edward; happened to my grandfather who never knew he was Edmund until he retired.)

I may well have been wrong.

Morning, I took Mason, and had two likely families on the 1911 in B.Green ( posted on thread). No contacts made.

Quoy had Newman. The marriage is not transcribed on BMD but its in the full indexes, from memory 3 or 4 Q 1920.Newman side was traceable but couldn't find wife on 1901.

Hi gang! I see you're all still going formidably (yes, Evie, it's tempting to say 'great guns' but perhaps not too appropriate) and you've put me to shame those of you who've had demanding weeks at work too!

but NOW I've got more time for 2 weeks so I'll be online most of this evening if anyone wants to ask anything. I'll be attempting to collate everything, though Vicci's spreadsheet is fab and will supply almost all I need but I will record everything on here too. Still need to organise all the PMs, private emails etc.

I'm also getting some interesting info at work. Not the definate connections that you've got here but some stories surrounding it AND it looks like I've found one of the soldiers who was firing the guns that night (that frightened everyone). He's a relative of a workmate! My workmate hadn't even heard of the disaster until now and happened to mention it to his dad, who was born in Bethnal Green, then the story unfolded. Great.
