I have Alyn as a friend on Facebook as from today, we have been chatting for a couple of weeks but he has not seen Robert since 1979 so he has no idea of anything :(

When you have info, it's good form to let us know.

Not necessarily all the personal details, but "I am in touch with his brother A who hasn't seen him since 1979", so we don't go hunting for him in hope that he would lead to Robert.

Fingers crossed for the librarians.

Sorry and thank you

I received a reply from the librarians as follows.

We have completed researching your question and our response is below.

I have checked the New South Wales Electoral Rolls to see if Robert Malcolm Vincent was enrolled. Unfortunately, there were two Robert Malcolm Vincent's.

One was a Jackaroo in Cooma, NSW in 1972, then in 1977 he was a Grazier in Scone, NSW and in 1980 he was a Station Overseer in Glenrock, NSW. I did not find anything after this year in New South Wales.

The second was listed as a Teacher in 1977 at a place called Badgers Holt, Windellama Road, Goulburn, NSW. There was a Patricia Ann Vincent at the same address. I also found that there was a Robert Malcolm Vincent was a teacher in Tennent Creek, Northern Territory in 1981. I could not find anything more after this year.

I looked to see if Bernard Baynard Vincent was at the same address but he wasn't. Bernard was a Teacher so perhaps it is the second Robert that you are looking for.

I also checked the Ryerson Index - this indexes select newspapers throughout Australia for funeral and death notices. I did not find an entry for Robert Malcolm Vincent.

In New South Wales there is a probate index online from 2013 onwards, but, I did not find an entry for Robert. This may mean that he did not die in NSW. I am only aware what is done for NSW Probate. Other states and territories could do things differently.

You would have to go to each state or territory to see if there is a death notice for him. Here is the link to each state : https://www.australia.gov.au/information-and-services/family-and-commu...etc

Good luck with your search.

So - nothing we hadn't already discovered.
Disappointing.

We do know, though, that your Robert is the teacher married to Patricia, since the other Robert, according to his sister, isn't/wasn't. :-)

I do still wonder about the death notice

VINCENT Patricia Anne
Funeral notice 04DEC2015
Death 61
late of Boondall
Courier Mail (Brisbane) 09DEC2015

since that would be just the right age, and wonder whether you can investigate with the QLD library.

I'm sure I searched and couldn't find an obituary! Yes, it looks like that one was born Vincent.
