Hi Michelle,
I have hit a brick wall and would appreciate any clues you can give! I have asked Julia to look up passenger lists for me, so please don't waste your valuable time on that but I am stuck trying to find a birth of a Sarah Baxter, circa 1850. I can find census records of her after her marriage in 1888 to John Middleton but what I really need is more details of her birth so I can track down her father/mother, All I know about the father is that he was called John Baxter, and he was a mariner (this info is on her marriage certificate). She lists her place of birth as Workington, Cumberland. I have also found details of her first marriage to american Richard Ragland, so I don't need that searching!

thanks so much!

Hi Michelle,
I am back again can you just find Rose with her children. I know they split up Rose and her husband I'm wondering if it was sooner than we have been told. I'm sorry I'm being a real pain on this one I just want to find anything that could start me off. I have sent my father on a mission to his sisters daughter to see if she has anything. His sister said no but since she has died I'm wondering if the daughter has come across anything she was the oldest sister. I'm sure they are hiding something.
Many thanks Brenda.
Just if you've got a spare moment as you have so many other requests to sort out. I'll keep checking back over the next few days. Thanks

Michelle - I'm happy to wait if you are prepared to do it, also the further requests I sent on the Dyers.

Have just found 1841 census which I had previously discarded showing a John Davies aged 9 months whose father was also John Davies aged 40, a Mason. My John was supposedly born 1837 which doesn't tie in but the mason link does. I know they are sometimes 5 years out but the census looks pretty comprehensive. Any thoughts?

Thanks a lot

Hello again Michelle

Please don't despair! I think I may have found John Davies and his parents on the 1841 after all. He is shown as 9 not 9 months which makes birth year 1832. On 1871 census looks like age 34 but I think 39 now which also makes birth year 1832. So pretty sure I've cracked it.

Can't go back any further can we?

:) :)

Amanda

The reason nothing is coming up is cos the Scottish Census you can only view the record and cannot look at the image. The only way to find more on this girl would be to go the Scottish site i have given you before and look her birth up to get her parents names etc.
The site i use has no further info.Without being able to check the image you can't see who her parents or family were.

Noticed the Grandmother had this name so i presume she is Sarah's Grandmother?

Also have noticed a William on the 1851-41 with a birthyear of 1831 i am sure you have noticed him also. Can't see him on the 1861?I think the way to move further on this 1 is to get the marriage cert using the record above. You will then see father's name and also witness names.
Certs can be ordered online for £7 from www.gro.gov.uk.I advise you to do this to be sure of his age at marriage and also to have a cert for his father.

Hallo Michelle ~~
I have an enigma in my family tree, and now living in the States, have some difficulty in solving it - so if you have time .....?
My g.grandfather - Henry FREEBORN, b 1st 1/4 1857 in Oxford. his parents were John George FREEBORN and Emma Sophia GOODEN.
I have been looking for his marriage info for years. I have his wife as Annie PRICE. B abt 1830. I have her parents as Charles and Emma. I have their 7 children b between 1880 and 1890. He disappeared for the 1901, and I found his death in Canada in 1932, where on his death cert he is listed as a widower. on the 1901, I find Annie remarried (??) or at least with a neighbour with either their children, or his from a previous marriage.
I have absolutely no information on this woman, except for a possible name of PRICE. I can find no record of his leaving for Canada, or where he went when he got there. nothing on the Canada censuses.
If you have any suggestions, it would be most appreciated.
kind regards
Helene
