Stevie Report 29 Mar 2009 15:32

Hi Kelly,
Here's all possible birth registrations for Walter King born in London Dec 1892 to Mar 1894
Also in BMD Peckham isn't a registration district, sorry don't know under which one it would have came either.
Births Dec 1892
King Walter James Lewisham 1d 1121
King Walter William Holborn 1b 663

Births Mar 1893
King Walter James Greenwich 1d 1183
Births Jun 1893
King Walter Ernest Marylebone 1a 580
King Walter James St. Saviour 1d 159
King Walter Jex Islington 1b 362
King Walter Millard St. Olave 1d 284
Births Dec 1893
King Walter Lawrence St. Olave 1d 304
King Walter Stuart Stepney 1c 401

Do have a middle name from his marriage cert to help pin down which one it is.

Kelly Report 29 Mar 2009 17:05

hi thank you so much, well the one at holborn, he did name his first son william, on his marriage cert it just says walter, but on my granddads birth (thomas henry king) amd on williams birth cert it says edgar walter king,
but the one at st saviours, is where he was married to ester waller, i have all of her information, but can only go back to thomas which was his fathers name, if this makes sence

Stevie Report 29 Mar 2009 19:19

Hi Kelly,
Had another look regarding Peckham. Peckham is a sub district under Camberwell.
You can view this in BMD.
After doing a search for a name, or name in a district. From the list of names provided.
Click on Camberwell, this will open a new window.

In the new window. Click on link where its says.... "information about it can be found here".
This will bring up the Camberwell Registration district & shows the sub-districts which come under it.

Seems Walter is a bit of an enigma.
The latest entries for Walter King in Camberwell are

Births Dec 1883
KING Walter Herbert Camberwell 1d 804
Births Jun 1889
King Walter Edwin Camberwell 1d 900

There are no other entries until 1902.

For Edgar King the only entries in Camberwell from 1880 to 1911 are
Births Jun 1888
KING Edgar Wilfred Camberwell 1d 811
Births Dec 1899
King Edgar Edward H Camberwell 1d 811

Hi Kelly,

There is this Walter King in 1911

HOUSEHOLD KING WALTER M 1894 17 Camberwell London

It may be worth purchasing some credits to see the address and other details to see if he is yours.

Afraid that's all I can suggest at the moment. Can't find Thomas and Mary King in 1891.

Dea Report 8 Apr 2009 18:42

ok ready now :- august 4th 1912, walter king 19 yrs and esther elizabeth waller 20 yrs
walter was a greengroser, 25 arthur st camberwell, his father was thomas (dec)
esthers father was william waller, (dec) coal porter
others there

joseph freeland )
beatrice blanch barnes )these were there friends
there you go

ChristineinPortugal Report 8 Apr 2009 19:55

Kelly, I was suggesting that you looked at the 1911 census as that wa a lot closer to his marriage date.

It may not be your Walter but you can view te transcription for 10 credits. He should have the same occupation as on marriage cert and there may be other family members and the actual place born.

It's very difficult to find the correct birth reg as it seems to be a popular name.

Kelly Report 8 Apr 2009 20:01

ha thank you, but please can you tell me how i get credits to do that, i have lots of credits on here,?

ChristineinPortugal Report 8 Apr 2009 20:12

The site below is the only one for the 1911.

I found the Walter King I posted on a free search and don't have any credits at the moment.

Kelly Report 8 Apr 2009 20:28

hey i didnt realise i was a member of that and have got 35 credits, they are showing 2 but neather of them are right, mine id walter or walter edgar king

but thank you kelly x

Kelly Report 9 Apr 2009 19:30

the family that christine in portugal found is the one on the 1901 census, showing walter was 8 years old, so would have been born about 1893, thomas king and mary a (i need her maiden name to get there marriage cert and gro number)thomas died before 1912 as he was dec on walters marriage cert,
i can then forget walter, and go back through them, i have certificates 1d 580 / 1d 284 / 1d 488, which i have now sent back to southwark council, perhaps someone else may be able to use them, i have seen walters grave so i know he was here,
my mum/s brother said that he was told walter was born to an american woman, who didnt want him and gave him away to some people, perhaps this is why i cannot find him, anyway any help to find thomas and mary a would be appreciated,

Dea Report 9 Apr 2009 19:47

Just to say Kelly - I have been looking on and off for the past couple of days, and I am sure other people have been also.

We have not forgotten you. - It is just that I haven't found anything yet which I can definately connect.

I will keep at it as I have a few thought and will let you know if I find something which I know is correct.
