Thank you for all the extra TootyFruity. My friend went home at 12.45 without seeing all your hard work but I have copied it into the Radcliffe file for him to see when he comes again a week on Sunday!
I will have to draw out a tree to see if I can determine which are James's parents. At least Bridgett is easy with her mother being present in 1871.

After much consideration of all the info contributed it seems that James Radcliffe from Uppermill, Saddleworth 1851 is not the same person as James Radcliffe from Upperthong, Holmfirth in later census.
The 1861 gives his name without ending with an 'e' so I have checked the G.R. single line for 1841 and he shows up :-

Can anyone see if he is with his parents in 1841 please?
