Member Since: June 2013 Posts: 11 Send Message	My father's birth certificate gave her name as Lily Gibbs and I was therefore working on this, but Southampton Archives from their workhouse records have today told me her name was actually Gertrude Lily and she was born in Sept 1891. Apparently her address was given on workhouse admission as the Salvation Army Hostel but on the birth certificate it is 60 Northumberland Road. From the census, a Louisa (nee Gibbs) is reported as living at the address in Northumberland Road and I am thinking maybe she was an aunt. Gertrude was apparently unmarried in 1918 with no name on the birth certificate though my parents' marriage certificate state his father's name was George Gibbs with occupation as 'docker' . So you can see how confused we are!!! The history is really quite complex with my father and her leaving the workhouse at the same time but with a gap of about 18 months before Dad is readmitted to the workhouse on several occasions. However, cant find anything else out about her after 1920.

	Hi Elizabeth It really would be in your best interest to purchase a copy of Gertrudes birth cert so that you can find out her Mothers maiden name. 	Looking at the image of the 1891 census, it seems that Joseph and Matilda (Henrietta's parents) are actually living in the same property as Willaim and Henrietta at..
