Hello,

I'm looking any information about Mourveen Harrison, born 1944/45 in
Manchester. An uncommon name but I can find no further record of her after her
birth.

Thanks

Natalie

Where are you looking?

Are you related? What prompted you to look for info about her?

Hello Natalie and welcome to the boards.

Yes, the only information I can find for Mourveen Harrison is her birth in 1945.

Mothers maiden name.......Stubbs.

There are several other Harrison/Stubbs births registered around that time in Manchester too.

Do you know who her parents are?

greyghost Report 21 Jun 2015 22:17

There are 3 male Harrison, female Stubbs marriages in Manchester and others in Lancashire around that time. And various births to that combination, but no way of telling without you getting the birth certificate who are her parents. Likewise, who if any of the other births to that name combination might be siblings, so you might be able to track them.

You can look at the possibilities for free yourself on this site -

Looked thorough all marriage and death records that I can find.
I have found a mention of a Mourveen in someone else's obituary but not
sure if its her or not. If it is her I believe she has died.
I think she was my mothers half sister..

Sharing which parent?

It would be interesting to see if the birth cert actually has the name as per the index..........

could it be that her name was mis spelt to maureen if she married

Who was your Mother Natalie?

And in what way do you believe that Mourveen was a half sister to you mother?

Sorry if we panicking you by asking too many questions.

Have a think about it and then get back to us.

Thanks, was not expecting people to reply so quickly!

I discovered on my grandparents marriage certificate that my grandfather had been
married before to a Vera Stubbs. His name and profession as well as Vera Stubbs name are all on Mourveens birth certificate. I have looked at the other possible births and I don't think they would be related with dates ect, It definitely looks like Mourveen to me on the birth certificate and not Maureen.

I just seem to have hit a brick wall with going any further forward as to finding out
what happened to her.

it maybe mourveen on birth certificate but not on her marriage could have been mis spelt

Natalie

Natalie Report 21 Jun 2015 22:57

Possibly, hadn't thought of that. Maureen Harrison throws up a lot more options
but no more info to narrow it down.

Is this the Stubbs/ Harrison marriage you are referring to.........

??

Marriages Sep 1944 (>99%)
HARRISON Jack Stubbs Manchester 8d 71
STUBBS Vera Harrison Manchester 8d 71

If so...........who, where and when did Jack remarry?

Your mothers name was????

Depending on when Jack remarried..........is it possible that Mourveen was adopted?

What happened to Vera?.......Does it state on Jack's second marriage certificate to ??? that he was a widower?

Is it possible that Jack and Vera divorced...........Vera remarried and Mourveen took on the surname of her step father?

Lots of things for you to consider.

I am signing off on here for the night now............will check back on here tomorrow.

Prickles. :-)

The original birth registration transcript definitely says Mourveen

Natalie

Natalie Report 22 Jun 2015 09:35

That's the marriage. He remarried in 1948 to Teresa Noonan in Manchester. Their marriage certificate says he was divorced. My mother Catherine was not born until 1959.

When looking for other Harrison/stubbs births I found one in 1961, Trevor, no father listed but the mother is listed as Vera Harrison formerly Stubbs. Living in the same area. So do not think she had remarried up until then. Maybe Mourveen was adopted.

There is an obit for Vera Pape formerly Harrison died 2008 in the Manchester Everning News mother grandmother etc with names of family and the mother of the late Mourveen !!

Natalie

Natalie Report 22 Jun 2015 10:12

Ha, I think that might be the obituary I mentioned earlier. It was a while ago and I couldn't remember what the other surname was. Just that it said she was dead.

Natalie

Natalie Report 22 Jun 2015 10:14

Don't know if that's vera's birth. Could be though as Jack was born 1923ish
