Hi
I have been reading through all the info
So If John Taylor died 1879 Nottingham
Would Clara Taylor birth be about 1880 / 1881 Nottingham ???
Olive

greyghost

greyghost Report 18 Oct 2017 13:44

4 Clara Taylors b Notts 1882 +/- 2 years (discounting Clara Mabel E Southwell RD 1882 no mmn)

Q2 1880 mmn Loseby
John Taylor married Laura Loseby 1875 Leicester, but he is a Butcher living Manvers St. Sneinton in 1881/91. Laura widow by 1901 and daughter Clara a School Teacher living at home in Notintone Place. Clara baptised 1880 St Stephen's

Q2 1881 mmn Hough. A 5 month old Clara Taylor buried August General Cemetery died Q3 Nottingham

Q4 1882 mm Smalley - as posts yesterday

Q1 1881 Clara Maud mmn Wright . Parents Charles and Elizabeth ? married 1878. Clara baptised 1881 St Saviour

I believe that Clara mmn Smalley is the option. If John died in 1879 then he wasn't her Father and perhaps she knew that if it's her in Pine Street 1901 as Smalley. But her birth would have been registered as Taylor - unless otherwise told the Registrar would take it that John was the Father and was alive. There are births registered with Fathers who have been dead for years. It was more respectable!

Another Clara baptised 1882 St Paul's d/o John and Selina of Hyson Green, but looking at 1881/91 census she was born c 1868

But you have to make up your own mind and prove the connections

greyghost Report 18 Oct 2017 14:52

No address details Chris Ho - General Cemetery records as shown on deceased online are pretty basic - burial certificate volume no., age, grave no. and date of interment unless you get really lucky - a few are abstracts (of another register I suppose) with more details. There may be more to see at Nottm RO
