Hi Gins (again!)
If you have the time - could you please check on my 'KEHOE's?
Luke Kehoe (b1789) married Elizabeth __ (b1801) in Wexford.
Can you see their parents?

(I already have their son (my) MILES KEHOE b1823 'Ferns'? Wexford.
(& siblings Michael b1832 & Bridget 1838) (from 1851 UK census)

Thanks - if you can. Valerie (Kehoe)

Hi Valerie

Date of Marriage: 16-Sep-1819
Parish / District: KILLAVENEY County: Co. Wicklow

Husband Luke Keohoe Wife Elizabeth Murphy
Address: Rathdrum

It seems there were other children too. Bridget' mother has a different name to the rest of them but the surname is the same. I wonder if Elizabeth died and Luke married her sister? Not uncommon back them. Done a search but not seeing any sign of another marriage so it could just be an error? You also have Elizabeth on the English census so very likely a mistake on the baptisim

Thanks for the look up offer Gins.

Bit of a long shots here but you never know.......

Looking for a birth for Edward McVey b about 1851. Father Thomas McVey, mother Elizabeth McVey formerly Burnside nee Fullarton. ( both deceased by 1881). He had at least one sibling, Catherine McVey born about 1844. Her marriage in 1862 does not note parents deceased. I'm fairly sure they were Church of Ireland as Edward's second wife was Roman Catholic although all his children were raised Presbyterian.

Also looking to confirm and buy certificate Edward's first marriage to Elizabeth Brown (b about 1848). The marriage took place in (looks like) Curran, Ireland on 10 January 1871 ( detail given on daughter's Scottish birth registration).

I'm also trying to find the birth of his second wife. Ann(ie) Ross born about 1855 in Armagh. Parents William Ross and Mary Ann Ross nee McQuade. I'm fairly sure that James McQuade born about 1867 is related to her as her step daughter was a witness at his marriage in 1892. His parents were James McQuade and Mary Ross previously McQuade nee (looks like) McCrea. Both parents deceased in 1892. Fairly sure the Ross and McQuade families were Roman Catholic, if that helps.

Hope you can help Gins. Thank you in advance for your time.

Fantastic Gins! I did wonder why Edward and Ann had never named any of their sons William as all their other children, except my grandmother seemed to be named for family members.

Austin Q that's terrific! Interesting that Edward's address is given as Scotland on that first marriage. I had just assumed that he didn't come here until after his first marriage. Perhaps he came and got himself work and then returned to marry Elizabeth. From his sister's birth looks like he originally came from Tyrone.

Thank you both very much. It just goes to show that even after 40 years researching we can still be adding more meat to the bones.

Thanks again.

Really appreciate your kind offer Gins as I've spent a few quid on Irish certificates over the years. Three of my grandparents were children of Irish parents and it's only recently that access to Irish records have been so accessible.

Will come back shortly with details of another branch that I would love some help with.

Thanks again to both you and AustenQ for your time :-D

Well here we go.

No idea where in Ireland as none of them give a county on the census.

John Mulholland aged 26 years when he married in August 1886. Married by Sherriffs warrant so not sure of religion. Father William Mulholland and Mary Queen (or Quinn) neither noted as deceased. Although he stated bachelor, I think he was a widower as he has a son Samuel born about 1880 in Ireland. When Samuel marries he gives his father as John Mulholland and his mother as Eliza Jackson (deceased).

I am looking for

(1) Birth of John Mulholland about 1860

(2) Birth of Samuel Mulholland about 1880

(3) Marriage of John Mulholland and Eliza Jackson

(4). Marriage of William Mulholland and Mary Queen or Quinn

(5). Siblings of John Mulholland. I know he had a brother Samuel b. About 1862.

Anything at all would be great Gins. Thanks again for your kind offer and time.

Mrs. Rootie

Thank you both very much.

The baptism for John sounds spot on as on the 1901 census he gives his age as 40 years. That looks like the correct marriage for his parents and the fact that his father was a widower is new information.

AustenQ, I think Isaac it probably the correct family too as my Mum said her father's family were quite into biblical names. I do know, again from my Mum, that John Mulholland was a lay preacher in his spare time.

Thank you both so much.

I've been following up on your previous information and think I've found a possible birth for Mary McWade / McQuade and a possible marriage for her in the same parish as her daughter was born.

It's amazing the co-incidences in the family history. John Mulholland's future daughter in law's parents returned to Ireland and both died in Loughgall. Their daughter, my grandmother came back to Glasgow where she met and married John Mulholland's son in 1920.

John Mulholland being baptised on 10 November is another co-incidence as my mother, his granddaughter, was born on 10 November.

Thanks again and AustenQ, can you tell me what site you are using please?

No problem AustinQ. Perhaps Issac was a son from William's first marriage. John named one of his daughter's Sarah and there's none on his wife's side so perhaps he named her for Isaac's wife. The only other child of John's that I haven't connected to family is Joseph but I suspect John had a brother Joseph as I found a possible army record for a Joseph who names a NOK as a brother John - just off to check that out again. John also had a daughter Elizabeth who appears on some records as Eliza. Again no Elizabeth's or Eliza's on his wife's side.

RG- the Isaac marriage was taken from RootsIreland.

There are some marriage records for a Joseph Mulholland- I'm short on time now (I was supposed to be out the door 10 minutes ago!)

I'm around in the morning so will have another look at possible siblings tomorrow (my mind will be calmer).
