Yes I do mean Robin was older than my dad.

Dea

Dea Report 1 Jun 2018 16:58

In that case - don't buy that death cert just yet as it looks as if there may be 2 x 'Robin's', although I think your's was actually called something else.

The death cert is for someone younger than your dad.

I've ordered it Dea and the birth certificate to get the parents names.

At least this will eliminate him one way or another.

Thanks
Sharon

Well, at least we won't have to wonder about it and you never know, it may just be 'the one'

Certainly there are no other records for either' Robin' to be found at the moment so it is 'worth a shot'.

Do please let us know the details on here as soon as you receive them.

Thank you ErikaH

I did message him but have not received an answer.

Have you considered that Robin was the illegitimate child of one of your father's sisters?

Or that 'Robin' could have been a 'pet' name? Winnie the Pooh was published in 1926

The 1934 child was the son of Henry H and Bessie (Stewart)

Recapping -
I think we're tending towards thinking that "Robin" may have been a pet name for Ronald Stretton Peace, 1925.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 2 Jun 2018 15:47

Right, thanks - so was his father a brother of Dermot's father?

Or is the 'cousin' relationship not necessarily 'first'?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 2 Jun 2018 16:48

Very complicated to answer!

Ronald 's great-grandparents were George and Ann.
Dermot's great-grandparents were George & Ann.

Ronald's grandfather Enos was a brother of Dermot's grandfather James.

So Ronald's father was a cousin of Dermot's father.

What does that make Ronald, in relation to Dermot's father? First cousin once removed ??

Ronald was also the uncle of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Sir John) who was mentioned by the woman who went to Robin's funeral..

Clear as mud.

just to throw a spanner in the works I already have George and Alice nee Stretton in my tree born 1881 and 1882
Frances Lillian 1902
Dorothy May 1904
George Enos 1906
Nellie 1911

This information came from the 1911 Census
Home address 20 George Street Newhall

unless John W, Ronald S and Charles were born later but then why would the children on the 1911 Census not have Stretton as their middle name.

Dea

Dea Report 2 Jun 2018 21:59

They 'were' born later ...............

There's no reason why any of the children should necessarily have Stretton as a middle name.

It just happened that George & Alice decided Ronald would have it as a middle name - maybe they knew he would be their last child, and thought they ought to get "Stretton" in before it was too late!

Just an update
I'm still awaiting the certificates

thanks

Just received the death certificate and its not the Robin Peace I need. This one was living in Gedling whereas my Robin Peace was living in Warsop Vale Nottinghamshire. So it looks as though Ronald S Peace is the person I was looking for.

thank you
Sharon
