Find Ancestors

John was born 13 Dec 1900 in Liverpool, to parents Thomas Speirs and Margaret Catherine Brock. He married Elizabeth J. Morgan in 1919 in W. Derby, Liverpool. Some time after that he went to South Africa. Is there any way I could find out when and how he went to S. Africa - are there passenger lists?

On his marriage 25/12/1919 it says he is 31 a steam wagon driver the son of Joseph a dock labourer

I know for sure that his parents were Thomas and Margaret Catherine. His marriage is on freebmd, Dec qtr 1919 in W. Derby, Liverpool. He married Elizabeth Morgan.

Well there must have been 2 John Spiers marrying 2 Elizabeth Morgan 25/12/1919.

The one born 1886 to Joseph and Bridget nee O'Neill married rose Lynch 1906 she was born 1887 died 1918.they had 5 children together.
Although he says he is a bachelor on his second marriage.But a widower on marriage bans

I was only told his marriage date and have just checked on Ancestry. It does indeed give banns and marriage registration for John and Elizabeth in Dec 1919, and John's father is shown as Joseph. This then is not my John. However, I am sure that he went to South Africa but I'll definitely have to look into that marriage.

I've emailed the person who told me of the marriage, so hopefully that will help.
He was definitely the son of Thomas Speirs and Margaret Catherine Brock and definitely born in Liverpool. I have no idea of his occupation, sorry.

The person who gave you the info was mistaken, as you've seen for yourself when looking at the record on Ancestry.

As you have access to Ancestry, try looking there for a migration record.

Malyon, that Margaret Catherine is not my ancestor - she would've been Speirs when she died and I know for sure she is buried in W. Derby Cemetery, Liverpool. The death shown by ErikaH is the correct one.

I've also looked on Ancestry for the migration but no luck.

How is John connected to the rest of your family please - where does he fit in please asnd what makes you think that he went to South Africa? - Is he supposed to have stayed there or did he return?
