Hi I need help tracing George Foster Hornby born 1855 York, Yorkshire
He was married to a Hannah Laing in 1890 South Shields Durham
I have all the censuses other than 1891
They had a daughter Kate born 1889 but not sure it's Georges daughter thinking the census might say something

he was married 3 times from 1881-1890

On all the censuses his name includes the F or Foster and they have he was born York Yorkshire

Have you found Kate on any census with George and Hannah please?

EDIT...… Not Kate..other children born to mms "Ling" Hartlepool...

On the 1911 census, Hannah states married 21 years, 8 children born, 5 living and 3 had died. Kate is not one of the five with George and Hannah.

Kate is on the 1901 aged 12 so that can't be her birth

Where is Kate in 1901 as I can't find her?

Just looked at both censuses and they are in the same house for 1901 & 1911

The only Kate Hornby I can find born at the right time (1889) is this one:-

The odd thing is that Jessie seems to have died in 1882. I wonder if George registered Kate's birth and unwittingly gave Jessie's maiden name instead of Hannah's????

Can't find them in 1891 census though.

EDIT - forget Jessie being the mother of Kate, I think this could be Kate's birth:-

yes that is him as I said he married 3 times in 9yrs
The next is Elizabeth Smith in 1885 she died 1886
The 1890 he married Hannah Laing

Some one has Hannah with a ….….Tulip and they have that Kate is his?? that's why I wanted the 1891 census

The marriage is the wrong one it's Jessie Turnbull who George f married 1881

If the marriage is correct, she married as Laing so unlikely to be George's daughter. It might be worth getting the marriage certificate to see if she names a father and the witnesses may prove helpful.

I don't think that marriage is your Catherine. Here they are in 1939 and the birth year is wrong - unless of course she lied.
