There is this birth in 1874 which 'might' be to Mary Ann

SEAL, MARY ANN -
GRO Reference: 1874 M Quarter in WEOBLEY Volume 06A Page 519

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 20 May 2019 19:08

Thomas married Mary Underwood, who already had a child - George

She gave him two children - Thomas and Mary Ann, then died in 1853

Thomas re-married and fathered two children whose births are on the GRO site.

When the GRO rectify their omission you will be able to find out if Olive was Thomas’s daughter, or his Granddaughter. If you’re not prepared to wait for that, a copy of the birth certificate would give you the answer

None of which is of any help with tracing Olive after 1871

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 May 2019 19:11

Perhaps Olive was adopted and her name changed, if nobody in the family was prepared to take on a 3-year-old child.

Or maybe she was adopted earlier, while still a baby, if her father couldn't cope and was perhaps unwell - 1871-73.

Susan Report 20 May 2019 19:18

ArgyllGran - yeah adoption was my thought as well as I cannot see a death and cannot find a trace of her post 1871. If that is the case is it a dead end?

Rambling - this is the one I was going with but was a bit lead by another tree and ancestry hints so was coming back to it to have a better search on options. Its frustrating when you cannot have a quick look at the parish records for marriages and you cannot but the PDF version of the certificates. :-(
