I am now going to order the Colchester Death Certificate to see if this is our man. The admissions tie in with some of the info we already had and the others do sound very likely to be him.Thank you all very much for your time and help ,it is very much appreciated.

The first and second one tie in with what we know. The newspaper was a court case and it said he had been sent to Gloucester Asylum from Essex.Thank you for these and I will take a look at the other ones and see if I can find further information that ties them to him

LaGooner Report 19 Mar 2020 14:36

Thank you for that. I know who owns the tree but I will not contact them due to a family rift and also they are well known to have wrong facts by the dozen. Also only death I can find registered for that year is way out age wise

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 19 Mar 2020 14:32

A private tree on Ancestry says he died Dec 1926, but as I can't see the tree I don't know where, or if they offer any proof.

I've checked GlosBMD for possible death registered in Gloucester from 1899 to 1936 - nothing.

Yes Kathleen he is Richard Kyffin Evans born 1859 in Ellesmere Shropshire. We have newspaper reports that he was taken to Gloucester Asylum in 1899 but cannot find any trace of him after that.

Yes, hospitals of any sort generally did, but often only patients' initials were given, not full names.
It varies from one census to another.
