am just about to restart entering new information to tree, without the Albert connection on the wedding certificate I would still be following the wrong line of enquiries, just proves that you shouldn`t really take too much notice of others family trees, again thanks to all for help

You have given me a lot of information to decipher and find for myself, the deaths of William and Edna seem right because the family have lived in the Havering area for many years. I

Can't see William in censuses, nor his parents Albert and Minnie .

Looks like a brother of William:

have spent time looking for Minnie and Albert plus William on censuses but like you unable to see them, would there be a reason for this? surely they wouldn`t be missed

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 16 Aug 2020 11:32

Can't see Minnie before marriage, either.

A rather sketchy tree on Ancestry has her ( as the mother of the Albert Henry in NZ) as born 1870 in Spitalfields - but no proof offered.
Albert Henry is the main focus of the tree, with his wife and children. For his parents it only gives their names as on his army record (Herbert Henry and Minnie Eugene) but no details for them .

Her marriage record says her father William was a seaman, so he may be no help re censuses, as he may have been away at sea.

I wondered if she could have been illegitimate and therefore registered under her unknown mother's surname.

There are a surprising number of Minnie Eugenia's (or variation of spelling).
This one is illegitimate:

can you suggest any certificate that I can order that may help verify any of this? would it be worth sending for Williams birth certificate? having said that I know his fathers name was Albert from the marriage certificate i have

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 16 Aug 2020 12:06

It would at least verify his parents' names.

Also (if you feel it's worth it) Albert Henry's birth cert - it's interesting that his father is Herbert Henry on his army record.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 16 Aug 2020 12:23

Re Minnie, with the Spitalfield suggestion in mind.

( I know the mention of Spitalfields was just in someone's tree with no proof, and this one's father doesn't appear to be a seaman, so it may be a red herring.

Minnie Eugenia's father William was deceased by the time of her marriage.):
