On the London Electoral Register -

in 1894 Arthur Hurrell is at 81 Station Road, Plumstead.

Nobody's listed at no. 81 in 1895 - it jumps from 79 to 85.
Also in 1895, White Conduit Street, Islington jumps from 6 to 15.

No help, I'm afraid!

Mary Report 22 Aug 2020 14:35

The Minnie Randall posted earlier with mother Mary Ann Randall (nee Byrne) born Cork about 1835 is I'am afraid not the correct Minnie

She was Minnie Catherine Randall born 15/3/1869 married 29/9/1889 to John Connor,
Her dad was William Randall born Faversham Kent a saddler 1832-1879
She had a brother Frederick James Randall 15/11/1871 married Eliza and had
daughter Minnie Catherine Randall
1911 Minnie Conner and John Connor with niece Minnie Catherine Randall 17

Henry Edward Randall 1861 brother to Minnie 1869 married Jessie in 1893 and the witness's were Emma Mary Randall and John Connoer

Emma Mary Randall married 1896 and her witness;s were John and Minnie Connor.

So who and where was the real Minnie Eugenia Randall??

Maryb.

Unfortunately there's no sign of them in 1897 either on ERs.

The London ER for around that time only lists the householder, and not other people living there, which doesn't help either. There are lots of Albert Reads in London.

It's so odd that they don't seem to be on any census, nor Minnie before marriage.
I would be tempted to think that they'd changed their name for some reason, except that the sons both married as Read.

Also I can't see any family in 1901 with the all right first names and ages, even with a different surname.

No obvious deaths for Albert or Minnie, either.

If it were my search, I would be tempted to buy Susan Emily's birth cert to see the address.
Not that William Richard or Albert Henry's birth certs helped, so that could just be a further waste of money!

Josephine

Josephine Report 22 Aug 2020 17:06

Not that I think it makes any difference, have just noticed that Albert and Minnie give the same address on their wedding certificate 81 Station Road in 1893.
Feel the need to send for Susan`s birth certificate just to see where it takes this.
I find it hard to believe that other people researching the same family have not met with the same problems

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 22 Aug 2020 17:10

Not unusual to give same address for bride and groom - saved paying for two sets of Banns

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 22 Aug 2020 17:11

They probably have - that's why none of the trees on Ancestry give any census or death info for them.

If we here on GR can't find them, I'm sure nobody else can!

sending for next birth certificate, other half thinks I`ve gone mad

ArgyllGran Report 22 Aug 2020 17:19

In 1893, Arthur Hurrell is at 81 Station Road, as in 1894 already mentioned.

Presumably they rented from him, but as he would be the owner or official tenant, only his name shows on the ER.

Josephine

Josephine Report 22 Aug 2020 17:27

If they were still there in 1901 would Mr Hurrell have to give names of his tenants?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 22 Aug 2020 17:36

If they were there in 1901, they would have their own entry on the census - unless somehow they missed filling out a form - and certainly there's no sign of them.

It's a Meekums family there in 1901 - and it doesn't look as if they'd have had room to squeeze in anyone else! It's a 5-roomed dwelling.

Looks like a good possibility, Mary.

Minnie and Albert's daughter Susan Emily 's birth and death were both in the 4th quarter of 1897.

The 1871 posted by Mary - William is a stoker on steamer (I think it says):
