No age is given for the MIss Swanson jjust the -Female box is ticked,but ages for Mr CR and Mrs CR Swanson are as given, 39 and 40.

Where is there any indication that Mary's 1911 birth has been 'found'

Her death cert should include her birthplace - IF the informant knew where she was born, and didn't make assumptions

Don't hold out too much hope on that - the DoB is wrong, so the informant wasn't very well informed

Hello Argyl, Kay and Erika, I didn't know about Mary being in the WRNS so that's something new. It's nice to know that Mary's birth has been found. I have only recently found Charles because on the 1881 census on family search, only William, Sarah, Emilie and William came up. I have only just found Sarah on the 1991 census with Charles. I don't know why but sometimes on family search only half the families show up and I don't know how to get to the next page. Thank you for your efforts.

I assume Marian is trying (or perhaps has managed - I've rather lost track) to link Mary and her parents to the family in the first part of this thread, where the name Ward features.

No birth or baptism on FMP. Is WARD a family name?

Marys birth would have been in SA and will possibly come under Consular records held at national archives uk,,she would get British Subject status from her father..

If the DOB given in 1939 is correct, Mary wasn't born until November 1911.

and 2 visitors, the Swansns,,,,no children,

You may already know that Mary was in the WRNS during WW2.

Hello, Thank you Erika and Kay - I've sent for Frances Mary's will which usually comes within 5 days (only £1.50). Mary Ward Swanson was her sole beneficiary so that may reveal more. Didn't consider adoption. Frances brother was also in South Africa 1914.
