Does Florence not have a year of birth on the 1946 ER as all the rest of them have

Kay????

Kay???? Report 5 Mar 2021 20:35

Debbie,

The ER lists are people who live at an address and have a right of vote,,,,,,just like we have now,,,dates of births are not included,,,,
The 1939 register was a count taken just prior to WW2 and in later years after the war in 1948,when the NHS service was formed, ithat count.census was consulted to give people a NHS number,

The Electorals and the 1939 register are not linked,

The Potters were shown to live there in 1939,& 1946 shows a Florence L Poultney,,she may have been a arried woman?

If you look further into the 1939 register you will find all the female patients are listed as,*incapacitated* even those patiens of aged 10 some only 3/4.,,,,males all have a job listed,or retired.
.
The hospital staff also have their jobs listed,

Try the Birmingham Uni aswell because records are housed in various places all over and sometimes not where you expect.

but the City council wont hold such records,

Oh i see, the 1939 was the one below Florence's record, i understand now, Sorry Erika, i was having a thick moment, i thought it was all one record.
Yes i will try the Birmingham Uni as well. When it's all up and running again my Sisters ex husband is going to get the files from DR Banardos home and that should hopefully have some more info on Florence.

Florence may have took the surname of someone she lived with after her spell in hospital,,,but never married ? she could have married in Scotland?

Someone who didnt know too much details about her when she died her age could have been guessed at and the spelling of he surname if she remaied singlel mid 1960s only a year of birth is given on deaths registration ,so much room for mistakes when full details are lacking by informants....

That's what I was thinking , maybe she tried to start a new life somewhere else. Thank you

Florence did not marry in Scotland, which Kay wondered about.

Thanks ArgyllGran, I did check that as well. It was worth a try. Maybe it's going to be one of those mysteries that can't be solved but i have found out some new things on here that we didn't know about.

How sad. Not an easy choice of employment. You just wonder about her circumstances that drove her to that choice.
