Thank you for your message

I was born 1947 Patrick Lavelle in Port Glasgow and i was put in a children's home when i was 3 months old, i had been trying to find my parents for many years i eventually found relatives on my mothers side who knew nothing about me and my mum had passed. My fathers name is Patrick Lavelle but that is all i know i have no date or place of birth.

Recently i found that Charles Lavelle 1903 was living at 4 Wilson Street Port Glasgow in the early 40's that just happens to be where i was born which makes me think there is a connection so i am trying to find out if he had a son called Patrick so far i have ruled out all Patrick Lavelle's except one which i am waiting for his birth certificate he would more than likely be child of his first marriage.

My parents never got married so it has not made my search very easy at all, i am looking at Charles Lavelle 1903 possibly being an uncle or maybe even my Grandfather.

The 1931 Port Glasgow birth certainly seems very likely to be Charles's son, with the other births posted by Maddie (yesterday at 15:46) as his siblings.

Combining that with the fairly unusual surname, and the coincidence of address, it does look promising.

It won't prove that he's your father - but the odds look good.
Good luck!

If the 1931 Patrick is thought to be the poster’s father, he was barely old enough to be having relations legally

He'd have been only 16 when the child was born, and probably only 15 at the time of conception
