Find Ancestors

I have found an entry of marriage for Charles and Maria in 1842 on FMP, Public record of Ireland, Marriage Licence Bonds, Diocese of Down, Connor and Dromore. It just gives their names and the year, 1842.

My Cousin and I are trying to find out who Charles Parents are, Charles is a very distant cousin of ours.

We were hoping to find out a little bit more about the marriage, IE the date, and also hoping that any other records we could find may also show his Fathers name, but this is all we have been able to find.

Any help or advise as to how to gain further information would be really appreciated

Four children listed - no parental info for either Charles or Maria

Is there any way we could obtain a copy of the marriage certificate?

That's an interesting find Shirley, we do know that a lot of them moved to Liverpool.

Not born in Scotland, (at least no baptism record on SP)

From a tree on Ancestry, re DOB:

"An estimate based on his first commission as an ensign in 1808. After 1795, the minimum age requirement to join the Army was 16."

The tree (owner Edward Knighton; tree name "C B Carrothers Tree") seems to have quite a bit of info about his time as a soldier.

Lots of proof attached - interestingly, the tree says he was in France in 1813, Belgium in 1815 (during the Peninsular campaigns, per his death notice in the Belfast Newsletter of 3 March 1852) , and Limerick in 1833 when he retired.

But nothing about his parents.
