I was 11 when my nanna Jeannie McWilliam passed away in the Garlands hospital in , Carlisle,Cumbria. Think she passed between 1969-71.I remember as a child when we lived in Carlisle going to see her there, She was in there for years, I can’t seem to find her death so thinking she may of gone by Jean or Jane, any help finding her would be appreciated. Thank you

Have you looked on freebmd for deaths just using the surname

Have you established her actual name .maybe Jeanie was the name she was know by but not her actual birth name

Hi Erika, Mary is my late mum. I’ve got my mums birth certificate and it says Jeannie Mcwilliam so I don’t know wether she’s used a either Jean or Jane. But her maiden was Christie as I remember mum telling me she got stuck with Cowan Christie on her birthday certificate. I’ve ended up with McWilliams as my middle name too, I’d rather of been a Mary or summat else but must of been the in thing years ago ??

Didn’t you see the death posted above????

You can’t see the info without buying the cert

Jean

Jean Report 4 Sep 2022 22:40

Hi Erika , Sorry I didn’t see it, I was trying to register on Scotland people but for some reason it won’t let me put my name to register so you must of sent the info whilst I was off here. It’s Definetly got to be her as it’s got Christie as her name, didn’t know about the Bryden part though, which is strange as years ago we lived in Brydon close, Salford, Manchester. I’m going to phone tomoro and get both certificates and hopefully the death certificate will help with the medical history side too. Thank you so much for your help, I didn’t think to join Scotland’s people till I realised I was only looking at England and Wales. How sad to think my nan passed in June 1970 when we moved away from Carlisle to Manchester also in the June 1969.

When you manage to register with Scotland's People, you can view and print the image of the birth cert online for the cost of 6 credits.
Minimum purchase of credits - 30 for £7.50.
Cheaper than buying the cert (£12), unless you particularly want to do that.

The death was in England, so you'll have to get the death cert via the GRO site, where you'll also have to register:
https://www.gro.gov.uk
