On 1841 census, both boys are recorded as 'Illegitimate'
Lucy is a Lace Maker, aged anything from 20 to 24. - don't forget ages of over-15's were 'rounded down'
All born in Northants.

The only hope you have is a baptism, although you're not likely ever to find out who the father(s) was/were

The man who married in 1867 was Charles HARE, father's name given as TITUS HARE, Occ Joiner, of whom I can see absolutely nothing!

When Reuben married, on 25/12/1873, he also said his father's name was TITUS, although the occupation had changed to Cordwainer, which is unlikely, to say the least!
Reuben also lied about his age, as he was MUCH older than his bride

I know wonder why they both said Titus? Do you have access to the Lincolnshire Cronicle paper please?

ArgyllGran Report 15 Oct 2022 16:25

The 1851 census posted above says both boys were born in Bridgestock, Lancs (on Ancestry's transcription.

Variously spelled in later censuses:
1861 says Reuben was born in Brigstock, Northants.
1871: Bridgestock, Northants.
1881: Braystock, Northants.
1891: Southampton (!)
1901: Northants, Brigstock

1861 and 1871 give his YOB as c1837.
Later censuses say c1840

I know ErikaH has posted the baptism of Charles in 1939 in Thrapston.

In view of Reuben's POB Brigstock, I wonder if this baptism is relevant:

Reuben Eayrs Kitchener
in the Northamptonshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, 1813-1912
Name: Reuben Eayrs Kitchener
Age: 0
Birth Date: Abt 1837
Baptism Date: 19 Feb 1837
Baptism Place: Brigstock, Northamptonshire, England
Parish as it Appears: Brigstock
Register Type: Parish Registers
Mother: Louisa Kitchener

Death??? Though age not fitting with that stated in 1841.

I have that information in my files about Rueben mother possibly Louisa Kitchener does get confusing dosnt it?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 15 Oct 2022 17:08

However - on further research -

I think the 1851 death is probably this woman - in which case, not Louisa Kitchener:

Louisa Eyre
in the Northamptonshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, 1813-1912
Name: Louisa Eyre
Age: 0
Birth Date: Abt 1830
Baptism Date: 7 Nov 1830
Baptism Place: Sudborough, Northamptonshire, England
Parish as it Appears: Sudborough
Register Type: Bishops Transcripts
Father: Thomas Eyre
Mother: Mary Eyre

Louisa Eyre
in the England, Select Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991
Name: Louisa Eyre
Gender: Female
Death Date: abt 1851
Burial Date: 4 Feb 1851
Burial Place: Sudborough, Northampton, England
FHL Film Number: 1999979
Reference ID: 28

Also -
that woman is with her parents [Sayres] in 1841 in Sudborough, so definitely not Charles and Reuben's mother.
