It annoys me when someone pleads for an adoptive mum and then ignores me when I offer my services, no names mentioned, but its double barrelled one. Bag-Puss

Geoff

Geoff Report 26 Mar 2005 00:54

Heather, if so, not a lot of people know that.

Sarah

Sarah Report 26 Mar 2005 01:07

My biggest moan is spending hours/days/weeks on what I consider to be a brick wall, then someone else happens along with 'isn't this them.....?' after looking for all of two minutes! I could so kick myself when that happens! lol

Bag-puss, too late, Ive taken on a younger man. Oh Sarah, I know what you mean - such mixed feelings when that happens - elation that you have finally found them and feeling such a dumbo that you hadnt. There are some real geniuses (genui?) on here.

Geoff I think the reason you are finding it hard to trace your gt x umpteen grandfather Adam is that I've just found another marriage to Lilith. not sure if he got divorced or just committed bigamy with Evelyn (or is Evelyn a bloke). Anyway, your address for the census was a bit vague - can you confirm it was Eden or Paradise? Adam's occupation is probably gardener by the way. nell

Me too! See you all tomorrow! nell

Geoff

Geoff Report 26 Mar 2005 08:05

Nell I think you're chasing the wrong Adam - mine was a clog maker from Accrington.

Geoff Why didn't you say so????!!!!!!!!! Good job I didn't waste all my credits on www*.*genesis*.*com/family&friends! nell

Nell - one of the funniest replies I've seen (and with so few hours sleep too ...) Put a few brackets in that URL and you have all the makings of a cool message board name. (*.*)genesis(*.*)

Geoff :-)))) nell up bright and early because yesterday I lolled in bed until 11.00am, what a slut. nell

Heather

Geoff and Nell, have you checked settlement papers for Adam, it may well be he was thrown out of his parish of birth and settled in Accrington later? Also, have you checked oldbailey online. There is a possible murder case on there that may involve Adam's sons.

Unknown

Unknown Report 26 Mar 2005 10:54

Heather Thanks for that. Unfortunately the settlement papers for the period are written in ancient Hebrew (and are themselves a translation). The murder angle looks most interesting. I think Adam's sons were all agricultural labourers, but I am not sure about the daughters. How do I find out who they married? nell oops, we've done someone's pet moan and hijacked the thread!

I believe there was some incidents of incest in that family Nell. So it will be difficult to assess the actual parentage of the children, though I do understand that those fathered by Caine did receive a distinguishing mark. I also believe that one of the brothers was actually a husbandman, rather than an ag lab. That may help on any bastardy papers. PS Have you tried the site www(.)naturism/in/Eden(.)com. There are some details on there of founder members though no photographs.

Bagpuss I believe if you read through terms and conditions on Ancestry they will in fact accept cheques if thats any good to you. I really dont understand why they cant do Pay Pal like most sites.

Heather

Heather Report 26 Mar 2005 11:34

I wasnt being rude Chris!! Just I am sure someone else brought that up a while ago and said they had been able to pay by cheque. Pain though.

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 26 Mar 2005 23:06

Geoff, Heather and everone else. Sorry, your info is wrong, I have the complete tree, its actually Aclan and Eue and their sons Caiu and Abut. I know mine is right because someone in America has been researching this for years and its definitely right. He even has certificates to prove it although I havent actually seen them yet. And Aclan was a Carder, not a Gardener, in Eclem, not Eden. If you want the whole tree, I can send it to you, or shall I just add it to your GR tree? Marjorie

Unknown

Unknown Report 26 Mar 2005 23:57

Marjorie That's fantastic. Have you also got Esau and Jacob's birth certs with the times on them? I was so confused until I found out they were twins. I think your address is a bit out though, I found that they were all involved in the Eden Project in Cornwall until they were made redundant. Poor Yves had to work as a fig leaf weaver for years and I'm still not sure whether s/he was a boy or a girl. Also, Lot's wife - can you add pillars of salt to GR trees? Or do you need to take it with just a pinch? nell
