Nicola Do you have any idea which area of Weston Bertha may be in? Weston is such a huge area it would take forever to search it without knowing an approximate location. Nikki

Nikki, I'm afraid I'm not sure where abouts in Bedminster as 1871 simply says 'Bedminster'. It doesn't appear to be until the later census that an address actually starts to appear. Excuse me if i'm being dim (and I usually am) but I don't really understand what 'indexed' means but if you do Ctrl and F cant you just put in william Crew and that will go directly to his name? As I said, i'm sorry if i'm being daft. If you can't find him easily don't worry about it. Many thanks for your time. Pam

Hi Pam The census has to be read in Adobe acrobat & it's not transcribed you have to scroll through scans of the original images, there's no way of typing in a search criteria, it's a real pain to be honest. I've got tomorrow morning free'ish so I'll start scrolling for you then & see how I get on. Watch this space!!!! Nikki

Nikki, thank you so much for all you efforts. This is still part of the same family. I definately have a Samuel and Phoebe, just haven't fitted them in with Samuels parents yet. That's brilliant. Thanks again Pam

Hi - I've just done a Somerset look-up for someone, but am having real trouble reading the census - thought an extra pair of eyes might help? I'm looking for JAMES CAVILL (Head), EMMA CAVILL (Wife), HENRY JAMES CAVILL (Son) and one other child - in Nailsea, Somerset. The ref is - RG9 1710. Could you take a look for me please and see if you think it's these people. Thanks Kaye x

Nikki

Nikki Report 23 Apr 2005 12:54

Hi Kaye Some of the Nailsea images are almost impossible to read, the only Cavill's I could make out are: 176 Abi? Cavill head 73 Plasterer? Compton? Mary wife 62 b? Sorry I can't be of any more help. Nikki

Thanks Nikki - That's two I didn't see! I will let the person who asked for the look-ups know - sure she will be pleased. It's criminal that they charge money for these discs and then half of it's illegible!! Thanks Kaye x

Sarah

Sarah Report 23 Apr 2005 15:56

Hi Nikki could you possibly have a look for Sarah HARSE for me - she was born approx 1851 in Blackford, Wedmore, Somerset and her father's name is George - it's not much to go on I'm afraid, but I'm trying to work out who was in the household in '61 and I can't find any record of her birth as yet. Her marriage cert states she was resident in East Brent in 1870 if that helps, but by 1871 and on all future censuses she was in Mark. Many thanks Sarah
