Could someone look up Pierre Chaplais. He was living I am sure in the Westminster area. He was born in 1815 having come over from France. He married Rosina Loveland in 1860. I am interested in finding his father also Pierre. Hopefull because it is unusual you may have some luck. Thanks

Hi again! Should be 175 Camden Grove North not Camberwell Grove? Does this make a difference or just a typo? Angela Born

Hi Lynda, I'm not sure whether Clerkenwell is in the area you are covering. If so, I should be very grateful if you could keep an eye open for Thomas SAYERS age 23 and wife Isabel age 22. Thomas born Whitby. Last known address was 11 Rawstone Street (could be Rawsborne - can't read the registrar's writing). Many thanks Jill

Glad I could of some service in return Lynda !! I was looking for Amelia Brock & possibly some children but none of those first names are ones I recognise. I've just dug out copy of a birth certificate my great aunt sent me of her father, my GG grandfather from 1873. Could you check the address out on it for me as I think this is one I've missed up to now - 75, Walmer Road, Kensington. His parents were Henry and Clara Marshall and he had an older brother William. I only hope if you do eventually get a hit on one of them that your new-found good luck doesn't give out on you ! Thanks, Rick.

Hi Lynda, Sorry - I don't quite know what you mean by that - another name ? It's definitely number 75, Walmer Road on the birth certificate. It's in Notting Hill which was in the sub-district of Kensington Town then. Is that what you meant ? Thanks, Rick.

Rick Report 29 Jan 2004 22:57

Thanks Lynda. Now I get it ! There's no other information on the birth certificate to give s a clue. I just looked on multimap and Walmer Road is certainly quite long. I'll see if I can find anything on the internet - estate agents might be an idea, or maybe one of my London-based relatives knows the road well enough to help. Thanks for trying, Rick.

Hi Lynda Me again! Could you please check and see if a Westover Street existed in Mile End please, i can find no trace of it. I got the address from a birth certificate for a William Ringrow in November 1870. The closest i have managed to find is a Westport Street, but it looks nothing like that on the certificate. Many Thanks Sharon
