Hi Maureen. As mentioned previously, we are looking into the best way to manage the Genes boards. Anthony Adolph no longer provides articles for Genes Reunited, and so we're not fielding questions. Please accept our apologies for the delay in organising this edition of the Book Club, that issue is now resolved. Our community manager has posted on the boards and is prepared to field any questions you may have. If you'd like to discuss anything in more depth, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. The Community Manager is not responsible for the Book Club, according to a PM I had from her today.

She also said that the function is not her fulltime role on GR

I asked her to read this thread................

So the role of the Community Manager is not to keep an eye on the boards then ?

So what exactly is the role?

What percentage of her time is given to her new role?

Why have a Community Manager position if they do not engage with the members other than post on Success Board etc

If this thread has not yet got her attention then what will?

On my Homepage where it says Genes Extras the following adverts are running:

British Museum Tickets
20% off flowers
25% off genuine original newspapers
50% off Teleraph sub - spelling is wrong

But none of these are current offers so why show them ?

I asked the CM if she would have a problem if I copied her full PM to me to this thread.

She said she'd rather I didn't...........although I can't for the life of me see why

One aspect of the response you had via Facebook, Glitter, which I find odd.

Why does the reply refer to 'fielding' questions............as opposed to answering them? Or does that rather 'say it all'?

I do think this site is run on a shoestring, which could explain a lot about the people supposedly running it

I don't think the new CM has had much support from her 'colleagues', and her predecessors weren't exactly shining examples as role models

They have been "fielding" questions from me for years. Never got one proper answer to a direct question. Certain there is a red warning light that goes off in their office when I send them any message and they draw lots to see who will "field" my question. Perhaps they might like to ban me again.

Estelle was the only person that was good on this site, from the Team, and did even ask for members help with her family tree.

Good afternoon everyone

Please let me be clear - the community is terribly important to all Genes staff and we have always known how important it is to our members.

It is because of this primarily that we are actively looking at ways in which we can improve the boards where we can.

I realise I have had a ropey start and I wholeheartedly apologise and I take full responsibility for that. I was too busy looking at how we can improve some of the boards, messages etc including some of the older suggestions and we are looking at those

Unlike some larger companies, we are able to offer a personal service to our customers and that is important to us however because we are smaller company, staff do have to undertake other roles within the group.

This does not deter in anyway however from the role of CM and nor should it.

I have picked up on some of your previous queries from this thread such as the rewards and I am currently trying to find out about these for you.

Please bear with me - I do hope to have some replies for soon.

The boards don't need meddling with.

The only significant problem with the boards is the utterly ridiculous 'marked as answered' which members have been complaining about for ages.

That is in fact one of the suggestions I have again raised today as I could see scrolling back and forth how often it did come up so thank you for flagging up again and it has been put back as a 'new' suggestion again
