Good find on the 1852 marriage, alviegal. Probably out of area because it wasn't actually legal.

So - Alison, get a copy of the cert to see if Peter named a father

Are you planning to get a copy of the marriage certificate? Or do you not wish to find out if he knew who his father was?

I’ve got a copy of peter Hansen’s marriage cert to Jane crossland on 27.7.1852, and it states that his father was called Soren Hansen . Haven’t really been able to get much further though :-(

At least that’s more than you had before. The 18th century is probably difficult to research online with relation to Denmark

You still haven't amended Peter's birth year in your title

Have you looked at familysearch site? Or any other genealogy site?
